“Pure Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

My partner and I spent two nights at the Brass Lantern Inn towards the end of October and wished we could have stayed longer. Mary Anne and George were delightful hosts, attentive without being intrusive and ready with advice about restaurants and local attractions. Our room was attractively furnished in a pretty country style and the bed VERY comfortable. The bathroom was spotless, as was the room and communal areas. Breakfast was delicious, George checked that it was what we wanted and the view from the breakfast room is spectacular - when the weather cooperates!

We hope to stay longer next time.

Immoderately as you enter the inn you feel as if you are back at home. Mary Ann and George will do the at most to turn your staying tHere into a great experience. It seems they willingly get into details to make everything in your room beautiful and comfortable as possible. Not to talk about the rich and healthy breakfast provided after a very comfortable night sleep. They definitely love what they do.
Promised to return. We usually keep promises.

My wife and I enjoyed a superb 2 night stay here during our self drive tour of New England 'In the Fall'. What wonderful hosts Mary Anne and her husband George are! Mary Anne's warm and friendly welcome and attentiveness throughout our stay were really appreciated and George, despite being very busy with his Rotary duties for the weekend Oktoberfest, found the time to come and say hello. Nothing was too much trouble and a genuine interest was taken in what we wanted to do whilst there and, although we had some plans, we took advantage of Mary Anne's recommendations and suggestions which meant we saw places we might not otherwise have seen..Our stay coincided with our Ruby Wedding anniversary and our sons had arranged beforehand with Mary Anne to surprise us with champagne and chocolate strawberries which awaited us in our room on our return at the end of the day. Mary Anne was as excited as us, it really was lovely and we couldn't have wished to have stayed anywhere else on the day. We had the Mt Mansfield room which was spacious, comfortable and spotless with good bathroom and in room amenities, plus it benefitted from a 'snack station with snacks, fridge and microwave. The common areas are also comfortable and spacious with a first rate complimentary afternoon tea provided each afternoon. Breakfasts were excellent - tasty and plenty of it to set you up nicely for the day. The inn is situated a 7 or 8 minute walk along the main road from the centre of Stowe where there are shops and nice restaurants. It is also handy for the shops and restaurants of the Stowe ski areas but you need a car to get to them.
Highly recommended.

It was certainly our pleasure and privilege to host you for your Ruby Anniversary! And thank you for these gracious and kind words regarding your stay here. While we were very busy this Fall Foliage and with George's commitment to the Stowe Rotary Oktoberfest we appreciated the opportunity to get to know you. Your charming review will certainly be priceless to our small family business and we are thankful that we made such a positive impression.

We had an amazing Fall Foliage and guests to make it even more special. Thanks again for your stay and we hope our paths cross again someday.

Best,
George and Mary Anne

My husband and I just had a little get-a-way for two nights and stayed here. The owners, MaryAnn and George made us feel instantly welcomed. We stayed in the Mt. Mansfield room. It was roomy, very clean, and felt very much like home. Breakfast was delicious with plenty to eat. I would highly recommend staying here. This is not our first experience staying at a B&B. We met a couple that was from the same area we grew up in and graduated from the same high school as my husband! You just never know who you will meet. That's one of the fun and interesting things that can happen at a B&B. Thanks MaryAnn and George for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: The view of the mountains from our window was gorgeous!

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing these wonderful comments. You two added so much warmth and good cheer to our Inn. And yes, what a small world it is at times with the crossing of paths from our guests. Always great to hear of these chance encounters! Certainly adds to the enjoyment of us, the Innkeepers and know that it must for the other guests based on the laughter and discussions in the breakfast room each morning!

Thank you and please stop in again if your travels bring you through Stowe.

Kindest Regards,
Mary Anne and George

Our family enjoyed the setting at this wonderful bed and breakfast. We had never been to stay at a B and B before. My family and some friends thought we were nuts. We got home and quickly told them of our excellent experience. We have told them to stop in VT. and stay at the Brass Lantern.Mary Ann and George were so kind, welcoming, and gracious. They live in the Inn, so that was a good sign to us that it was to be a good and well cared for place Excellent views from the room and dining area. Close enough to ski slopes and sights to see.Not far drive from the highway . Nice sitting areas , feels like home on the first floor.
We would go again anytime we are in Stowe, VT. area.
Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2 lower priced rooms.Small but very nice. They were clean and we could see a good...

We stayed here for 2 nights and felt so welcome! It was a lovely place that made you feel instantly at home. I would certainly stay here again. MaryAnn and George are wonderful hosts. George is an amazing cook also. No need for lunch after a George breakfast!

This was our first B&B experience and we were certainly not disappointed! We were very sad to leave.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Stowe!

This B&B is on the top of my list the next time I visit Stowe which will be soon thanks to MaryAnn's warm welcome and George's delicious pancakes! My sister and I enjoyed their game room with cookies, tea, coffee and popcorn; a very relaxing evening. The jets in the tub was just what I needed and the entire stay with topped off with a gorgeous view of Mansfield mountain. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Stowe and I don't think you should either.
