“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We have been skiing at Stowe for more than 30 years and staying at Edison Hill Manor for at least 10 of those years. We love the place and under new ownership it keeps getting better. Wonderful improvements have been made. The redecorated rooms are beautiful; the whole place, from the manor house to the cottages have been updated and nicely decorated – top notch quality. I cannot think of a better place to stay in Stowe – we just hope it remains the nice country inn that it is and doesn’t get too fancy – but it seems they know where to draw the line. It was a great visit!

Room Tip: The rooms in the manor house are lovely, but so are the cottages with working fireplaces.

The experience at Edson Hill was amazing! The room quality, materials, furnishings and comfort were a 4 Season level. Then the food, wow was are most common words. Truly excellent with local foods, incredible tastes and great service. The bar was also a special experience !!

The Inn is impeccable, The new owners preserved the integrity and character of the cottages and the Manor House, but embellished to a level of comfort, elegance and design that is unique. The furnishings, the eclectic art, the blend of founds objects; whether found on the property or in antique stores shows that each wall and corner has been thoughtfully curated.

The staff was very accommodating, friendly, approachable.

Our meals were spectacular, simple hearty breakfast, included eggs, pancakes, fresh baked muffins with honey butter! Dinner was fabulous, we sat in the main dining room, elegant farm house decor, each table has it's own personality. whimsical chairs, tables are reclaimed wood or white table cloth. The room is illuminated with dim sconces, candles and a hand made chandelier.
Everything we ordered was scrumptious, including the cocktails.

The tavern is a cozy bar with comfortable chairs, fireplace, fresh crafted cocktails. Have a seat at the bar, Don will present you with his latest elixir.

So often, hotels/inns renovate or restore a property and I find there are "misses", some overt and cheap out, some just lack the attention to detail. Edson Hill has a cozy atmosphere with unflawed use of space, materials, textures, and patterns.

The whole experience was just perfect, They have excelled at giving new life to an amazing property.

Room Tip: cottages are spacious, some with soaking tubs.

My wife and I came to Stowe for a ski getaway, and we're lucky to find the newly renovated Edson Hill Manor. The rooms in the guesthouse are tastefully decorated and captured the elegance of the era in which the property was built (1940). Location is convenient to both the town and the mountain, and the setting is stunningly beautiful. The tavern and the restaurant are top notch and will soon become one of Stowe's top choices. The tavern features cocktails created by local bar chef Don Horrigan, and all of the dishes on the menu are excellent, but in particular the venison stew is amazing. If you are considering a visit to Stowe, I highly recommend Edson Hill Manor before the secret is discovered!

Room Tip: Keep in mind this is an inn, without some of the amenities found in a full service hotel. However, t...

This renovated Inn and beautiful property will be climbing to #1 over the next year. I stayed for three nights, alone, to enjoy some peace, quiet and skiing. There is really no detail left undone. The rooms (behind the Manor) have a rugged feel but maintain their elegance. The proximity to town is too easy, and the location, so peaceful, bucolic and perfectly set away from any noise or light. The staff was top notch, from the Tavern, to the Restaurant (breakfast) to Management. And all during a "soft opening"!! - can you imagine this magical place on an even higher upward trajectory. I will be back with the family for hiking this late Spring but trust me, this place is going to be something other than just a "wedding" destination. It is a true retreat for skiers, for quiet seekers, for foodies, and for nature lovers. And if you appreciate interior design and thoughtfulness through simplicity, you have found your spot! Best, Eric

I stayed here with my family of three for a ski weekend. I realized not only is Edson Hill convenient to most everything, (approx 4 miles from ski mountain) it is also wonderfully secluded, (you have the best of both worlds) The property is filled with charm, elegance and beauty tucked away in the woods on a farm estate. I have very high standards and I cannot say enough of how much I enjoyed the "NEW" Edson Hill Manor.
To start the main manor house was absolutely exquisite!! Decorated so tastefully in a rustic, earthy and modern mix filled with warmth and character.
The Resturant was amazing both in ambiance and fare! Most everything is freshly baked on the premises. For breakfast fresh baked berry muffins were served that melted in ones mouth, along with home made granola and fresh yogurt...followed by a full course of eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes or french toast! For dinner the restaurant so bright and fresh in the morning transformed into a dimly lit, elegant and romantic space. The menu enfolded an array of eclectic trendy dishes made from fresh and wholesome ingredients. Delicious!
As far as the accommodations... We stayed in one of the guest cottages, which was recently renovated with heated bathroom floors, new furnishings, fresh paint of a soothing color and beautiful crisp fresh linens and bedding so high end and inviting.
The staff terrific!! Carl the manager of the Manor is super sweet and so helpful with everything. He seems to take a personal interest in his guests and goes out of his way to make them feel as comfortable as possible. We enjoyed him! Our server every morning was a sweet and lovely young woman as well.
To conclude... I have very high standards and have traveled to some of the best! All I can say is I never wanted to leave this place!!! It was everything and more and I am looking forward to spending time at Edson Hill again in the future!

Room Tip: Try and get one with a fire place!

We just left Stowe this weekend and were lucky enough to come across Edson Hill Manor as a place to stay. We had just a wonderful experience. Not having any experience with Edson Hill before their restoration/remodel I can only comment on how it is NOW. And what is, is visually stunning. First our bedroom suite: One of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. Great pillows as well. A significant amount of thought was obviously put into the textures and 'feel' of the room to ensure it was a well balanced blend of 'lodge' and luxury. There are very nice bathrobes (I wonder if they sold those...) and wood burning fireplaces. My bathroom was very nice and contemporary feeling with superior amenities and great towels. The Manor House is sited on a just beautiful piece of property and has clearly been gone through and upgraded. The living room is at the same time light, and bright while being warm and inviting. It is a GREAT place to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine while playing old school games of Backgammon, Monopoly or Scrabble next to the fireplace. Great little areas to get away and have a nice conversation with someone. We had dinner and breakfast in the dining room. What a great little restaurant! Dinner could not have been more wonderful. Food, atmosphere...just great. Bar service could have been a little faster I think, and our poor waitress could have used some help running her food to our table of 8. But all of our food was prepared perfectly and there wasn't a bite left on anyone's plate. If I had one thing that I would address is some of the appetizer portions didn't quite sync from one to the other. I had the spinach salad and while very good, my partners crab cakes came out and it was 3 large crab cakes as an appetizer...(so get the crab cakes before they figure that one out because they are crazy good!!) Breakfast was a big surprise. It was included in our room, and I was expecting the standard fare. Not so...Homemade muffins, bacon, sausage, eggs, french toast and homefries...they hit the spot. You can also order yogurt, granola and fruit. Or mix and match as you wanted. They were very accommodating. We also got a look at the new tavern as well and I would love to come back when that opens...it's so cool! Very "lodge'y". They are going to crush it when it opens! Being so close to the mountain, that is going to be THE place to go for Apres skiing and hang out by a fire pit! Are there still tweaks to be made...sure, but it's clear the new owners are guided by making Edson Hill Manor a class leading facility in Stowe. From our experience they're well on their way. It is a great place and I will definitely come back

Room Tip: room 17 was perfect. quiet, large fireplace.
