“Great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2005

The Golden Eagle is great. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast restaurant was clean and inviting. Good food. I would go back anytime. Great for senior citizens and families. I would give it a 10!!! Close to Village and Recreation path. Had a wonderful time.

My husband and I went to Stowe for a romantic getaway for our first anniversary. We had never been to Vermont before, but we had read about Golden Eagle Resort on Trip Advisor. It turned out to be perfect for us. Our room had a whirlpool tub and fireplace, as well as a veranda overlooking a beautiful pond and gazebo. The breakfast was very good (very fresh ingredients!), and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. I had a fabulous massage in the fitness center with Errol; in fact it was so good that I immediately scheduled another right away for the next day. The pool area was nicely kept up, with a beautiful view overlooking the mountains. (Since the weather was nice, we didn't go in the indoor pool, but it looked very nice as well.)

All in all, a wonderful, relaxing long weekend in Vermont. Highly recommended!

My boyfriend and I stay at the Golden Eagle Resort at least twice a year but we definately make it up there for our Anniversary every October. The staff is the friendliest most accomidating. The hospitality is wonderful. We stay in the mini suite with fireplace and balcony and usually try to get the same room every time. The room is the coziest most romantic I have ever stayed in. We usually stop at the cheese and wine store on the way into town and pick up a bottle of our favorite wine and some of our favorite cheese. The room comes equipped with a fridge to chill the wine and keep the cheese cold. We spend a day on the mountain and in town shopping and then come back to the room for a nice cat nap, shower and then out to Trattoria la Festa which is our favorite Italian restaurant tucked away in the mountains. We have grown quite fond of the owner Antonio who makes you feel like family from the moment you cross the threshold of this small quant Sicilian family atmosphere. We end the night at the Golden Eagle in our room of paradise with a fire in the fireplace a night in the jacuzzi tub with the wine and cheese and then sleep all night through the best nights sleep ever with the fresh mountain air coming in the cracked slider on the balcony. We travel a lot but nothing compares to this weekend that I look forward to all year because it is simply the most romantic. I cant wait for our trip back this year!!

We just spent 2 weeks touring New England - one night here and two there kind of trip. Then we chanced upon the Golden Eagle Resort late one Saturday night. We got a very friendly welcome with loads of info about what there was to do in Stowe and surroundings. Then we went for a swim with our two teenagers after a day of travelling....then we saw the beautiful huge hot tub. Well - that was it - we got dry and went straight back to reception to check in for as many more nights as we had left before our flight home - sadly it was only 5 nights total - not enough!

What a wonderful place the Golden Eagle is and also Stowe itself. We loved all of Vermont - so natural and unspoilt.

Our room was gorgeous - really clean and thoughtfully furnished with a small refrigerator which was great. We liked the soap dispensers, etc. - I hate the wastage of all those little bottles in hotels. The round-the-clock delicious Green Mountain coffee in the lobby room was a real bonus. The pools were all great, the spa was fantastic - we didn't even get chance to try out the massages, hiking trails, tennis, games rooms and so many other things. I borrowed a book from the library (another lovely room) and enjoyed that small but meaningful touch. The pools and spa were all open really good times - until 10pm - often we get to hotels in the evening and then we can't swim as the pool's closed which is frustrating. So nice and so relaxed at the Golden Eagle.

The 'Pie In The Sky' pizza restaurant literally over the road was such a hit with our teenagers the second night that they could not be persuaded anywhere else! Which was fine as we them let them have a takeaway the next nights while we ventured further into Stowe for fondue, etc as a couple - even better! We had breakfast at the hotel one morning - a very enjoyable experience and enough to fill us until evening!

We hired bikes - loved the Recreational Path, climbed Mount Mansfield, went to Ben and Jerry factory up the road, a creamery, a maple syrup farm, ate lunch at the Trapp Family lodge, visited the University and lakeside town of Burlington, etc etc. There was such much to do and simply not enough time! We have vowed to return whenever we can - definitely at some point in the fall one year and again in a winter. What a gem our chance discovery turned out to be - a piece of paradise. The Golden Eagle's location so near to the centre of Stowe was a huge bonus - we only realised how lucky we were in that when we saw so many of the other hotels and resorts were quite a long way out of town. Next time we shall go for a lot longer. We loved the Golden Eagle, loved Stowe and loved Vermont. We'll be back.............

We stayed at the Golden Eagle Resort, in Stowe, Vermont, 8/13/05 - 8/20/05. What a wonderful place! We had room 193(Terrace Wing) which was the Premier Suite and well worth the money. The first thing we notice, was how immaculate the room was and how up to date it was. We had a sitting room as well as a room that was ajoining for sleeping, as well as two televisions. We were pleasantly surprise with the emenities provided, such as a dispenser in the whirlpool bathtub, (which had beautiful tile) that dispensed shampoo and body wash. It was much better than those small bottles we have used at other hotels and much more convenient. At the sink was also a dispenser with face and hand wash and one with face and body lotion. We had an abundance of towels, which to me is something you receive too little of in most hotels.

The grounds were well kept and beautiful. The 2 outdoor pools were also very well kept. The sauna, hot tub and indoor pool were also immaculate. Massages were provided at an addition cost and both my husband and I had one. Well worth the money!!!

On the premises is a Cafe for breakfast which was included in our room pricing. Food was delicious and abundant. What a convenience to walk to breakfast each morning. Across the street was a wonderful Seafood Restraunt, which was excellent and a good value. Next to that was a great pizza restraunt called PIE IN THE SKY. Harrison's was to the left of the property and a more expensive type of restraunt and an equally good value.

All in all, and after visiting other places to stay in Stowe, the Golden Eagle is our favorite. Please do not miss an opportunity to stay there, you will be in for a treat and will not be disappointed.

We were getting desperate trying to come up with a vacation spot suitable for our family. Then we remembered the Golden Eagle in Stowe, a place we had visited seven years ago. It was one of our favorite vacation memories. So we made reservations via their excellent website and were on our way. When we arrived after a long drive, we were welcomed warmly at the front desk. After opening the door to our room and seeing the view of the woods and the pond, we felt instantly on vacation.

There is so much to do that is kid-friendly: the outdoor pools, the playground, the hiking trails, the nearby bike path, Pie-in-the-Sky pizza, the game room. Even a rainy day posed no problem as we journeyed to the nearby Ben and Jerrys factory for a tour (and free samples), and then made use of the fantastic indoor pool complex and hot tub.

Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer....
