“One of the better places for breakfast in the area, but sadly declining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

I grew up going to this restaurant for family breakfasts. During those years, the restaurant was 1/2 the size, and the food (not just breakfast, but also lunch) was terrific. Through the years an addition was built to add a gift shop and more seating space, and the restaurant has changed hands. I feel as though the "homey" feel to the restaurant is gone, and that the restaurant is now geared more toward tourists and travellers than to locals, although the local crowd does still go here. With the most recent change of hands, the food prices have risen and the food quality has deteriorated (bread quality in French toast is definitely different, portions are smaller, etc.). Also, the restaurant went from putting a pint jug of syrup on the table to a small portioned cup, and for extra, you have to order and pay for more. I understand that this may be a great economical move, but it also took away one of the great things about the sugar house --- THE SUGAR! That being said, this place still has the best homefries out of anyplace I've ever eaten, and because its close to family, I will always return to eat here. The waitstaff is VERY friendly and courteous, the dining area is kid friendly, and the proximity to the highway makes it easy to get to. TIPS: If visiting on a weekend, go earlier than the breakfast rush or noonish for breakfast/brunch, or you'll be waiting on line for a table...it gets crowded FAST!

“Just OK”

I've been to this place many times over the years. It used to be very good as far as quality and quantity of the food. The quality isnt too bad but the portions have shrunk considerable.

“Not worth it.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2010

I've had high hopes for this place because it is well known, and it has great potential. I had breakfast there a few times and the food has been consistently poor. My pancakes were very dry and the hash browns are a joke (it looks like they come from a bag in the freezer). The last time I went I tried the french toast. It was a couple slices of bread and the egg mixture hadn't even soaked through the slice before they cooked it. I can make much better breakfast at my house, plus, the coffee is better at my house too! Maybe this is just a tourist trap, which is really too bad because it has potential of being a very good breakfast place. Also, the food is overpriced. Service on the other hand was fine; the waitstaff seemed nice and friendly.

“Best Pancakes EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2008

I visit Eaton's only once a year as I don't get down there that often, however I wish I could go every day!

They have the fluffiest pancakes that burst with taste and to top it off, REAL maple syrup. It is a party for your tastebuds.

The service is homey and nice, you can make yourself at home there. While you are waiting for your food (not that it takes long), you can browse and shop for a large variety of Vermont items.

I have so much fun there and would recommend it to anyone!
