I grew up going to this restaurant for family breakfasts. During those years, the restaurant was 1/2 the size, and the food (not just breakfast, but also lunch) was terrific. Through the years an addition was built to add a gift shop and more seating space, and the restaurant has changed hands. I feel as though the "homey" feel to the restaurant is gone, and that the restaurant is now geared more toward tourists and travellers than to locals, although the local crowd does still go here. With the most recent change of hands, the food prices have risen and the food quality has deteriorated (bread quality in French toast is definitely different, portions are smaller, etc.). Also, the restaurant went from putting a pint jug of syrup on the table to a small portioned cup, and for extra, you have to order and pay for more. I understand that this may be a great economical move, but it also took away one of the great things about the sugar house --- THE SUGAR! That being said, this place still has the best homefries out of anyplace I've ever eaten, and because its close to family, I will always return to eat here. The waitstaff is VERY friendly and courteous, the dining area is kid friendly, and the proximity to the highway makes it easy to get to. TIPS: If visiting on a weekend, go earlier than the breakfast rush or noonish for breakfast/brunch, or you'll be waiting on line for a table...it gets crowded FAST!
