“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2008

I was making a stop over on my way to Boston so I decided to stop for the night..

I was impressed with cleanliness of the room. They no longer use a bed spread (which thought was a hotel germ trap) , but a sort of thick sheet which is washed daily. The bathrooms were clean. They have a rounded shower curtain so you have lots of room in tub.

The mattresses looked brand new - I checked.

There was a free breakfast included. It is a self-serve arrangement. and it was all you could eat. I really liked the cinnamon rolls!

It was also a really quiet room. I slept well.

The room with two beds cost about $130 CDN with a CAA card.

I would certainly stay there again!

I would be recommend it to anyone.

This is probably the oldest "nicer" hotel I've ever stayed at. The carpets, fixtures and appliances were straight out of the 70's. They were all well kept but boy did everything seem old! The staff was friendly and called us shortly after check in to make sure we were comfortable which was nice.

I don't have any complaints besides the clearly outdated nature regarding everything about the location. The price and closeness to downtown were a plus. We had a nice stay and the staff was excellent, maybe to make up for the older amenities.

We had booked a motel in South Burlington/Shelburne on Trip Advisor recommendations. When we arrived it was so awful we left, losing our deposit. We searched for 2 hours before trying the chain Holiday Inn Express. For less money than we had paid for the other motel which had no facilities, we got a lovely large comfortable motel room with excellent beds, an indoor swimming pool/hot tub/ sauna, and very friendly staff. This may not be a boutique hotel, but at the price we are paying ($100-130 per night) it is heaven. I think it is the best value on the South Burlington strip - not the cheapest but you get the most bangs for your bucks. (we tried a dozen motels/hotels before we took this)

  • Liked — The price and the swimming pool
  • Disliked — breakfast -eating it might give one cholestorol poisoning and/or a heart attack

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2007

My teen daughter and I stayed here for one night (a Wednesday) in Sept. 2007. We chose this hotel because of the cost (less than $100) and proximity to University of Vermont (5 minute drive).

Check-in was satisfactory. When we walked in, the woman at the desk was on the phone, so we waited a moment, but it would have been nice if she had just looked up and smiled or at least said "Someone will be with you shortly". Instead, she just totally ignored us, making me feel a little uncomfortable. When another woman came out to check us in, she was efficient, but never smiled at all through the entire transaction.

The outdoor pool is inviting and clean. Our room was also clean and spacious with very comfy beds, fridge and microwave. Our room was on ground level, only two doors down from the lobby and we had no noise problems at all. I was able to read my email from the computer in the business center. There is a Friendly's restaurant in the same parking lot. Hotel is right off of I-89, across from the Holiday Inn and Sheraton. The continental breakfast did not offer the variety that I've seen at other Comfort Inns, but they did have the usual carb-based fare as well as hot waffles and hard boiled eggs. Only apples for fruit, no yogurt, no skim milk, no Splenda. Small 8oz cups for coffee.

Other than the little issues, the hotel is a good value for those on a budget and I would not hesitate to stay here again when in the area.

  • Liked — fridge and microwave in room
  • Disliked — Breakfast area very crowded in the mornings - be prepared to bring your food to your room

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2007

We stayed here two nights (not consecutive) the night before flying out of Burlington airport and the night returning.

Our room both times was not in the main building but rather in the motel style building next door.

The rooms were okay - clean, comfortable enough but the one thing we did notice was that the building smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. Our rooms were non-smoking but I assume there were smoking ones in the building because the smell was overwhelming.

We did not spend a lot of time in the room as it was just to sleep in. The room the first night had a small fridge in it which was nice. The second room did not and it would have been nice to be able to keep a couple of bottles of water in there.

The continental breakfast was adequate (bagels, doughnuts, waffles, cereal etc) but the area gets really, really messy (gross actually) and no one is cleaning up during the time it is being served. Also they clear everything up at exactly 9:30 (10:00 on weekends) so if you sleep in you have missed the breakfast.

Overall our stay was okay, nothing seriously wrong but it could have been better,

  • Liked — Near the airport
  • Disliked — The mess created at the breakfast buffet and how it is not cleaned up!!

This was very high standard accommodation for a motel. The room was big and modern in a good position. There was a lovely outdoor pool. Breakfast was a bit of a scramble but no other complaints.
