“Beautiful farm, but you need some insider info to really enjoy it”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

We recently visited the farm after hearing amazing reviews. We visited with my 10 year old son and 6 year old daughter and they hada great time. It is absolutely beautiful and they have a wonderful exhibit that allows the kids (and adults!) to see and touch the farm animals up close. They got to milk a cow, hold some hens, pet goats and bunnies, etc... There is also a neat exhibit where you can watch the cheesemaking process.
The problem we had was that there were so many other buildings on the map, but they were soooo far away! When we asked about it at the front desk the woman was very uninformative. We also asked in the gift shop and weren't able to get much information from them either. This could be a great place tovisitif you can just figure out how to get fromplace to place and what actually goes on at each of the locations.
Plan to pack food as well. There is only one food cart and it is crazy expensive! Super small sandwiches for about $7. The grilled cheese was a good size and a little cheeper, but we didn't see any cheese on it! Definitely save money and bring your own food.

“fun for all ages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

We visited with two teens and a preteen who were skeptical about visiting when they saw a crowd of preschoolers in the parking lot. We ended up staying for 3 hours! Highlights were milking a cow, petting baby piglets, seeing how cheese is made, and viewing Lake Champlain from Lone Tree Hill. The staff are friendly and patiently answer all questions and the grounds are beautiful.

“Take the tractor tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We decided to walk, and while the walk is excellent, there are so many walking trails (miles of them) that you have to decide which will be best. We did not want to wait for the next tour, so we went it alone, and I wish we had just waited. The tour is 1.5 hours, you get a tour guide, and on a very hot, sticky day, sitting on a tour "bus" towed by a tractor is preferable to wandering around.

We loved the cheese!

“Great walking and rock skipping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

The farm had not officially opened yet but the grounds were lovely to hike around going from the gift shop to Lake Champlaign. If you are a rock skipper, the rocks along the Shelburne Farm shoreline are the best.
