Okay folks, I read some of the previous reviews and took a chance with some trepidation.
I really think that some folks have difficulty understanding the term "economy motel."
You won't find nightly turn down service, a chocolate on your pillow or an exercise room and other amenities. This is an economy motel!
We reserved the room through the "Choice Hotels" web site. Remember that the Econolodge is on the bottom of the Choice Hotels food chain. We were only going to be staying for one night while in the Burlington area attending the annual flower show. We reserved a king bed non-smoking room for a little less than $48. Upon arrival that's what we got. I told the manager that I was concerned with cleanliness and he insisted upon taking me to the room for an inspection. Like many Econo Lodges, this motel was no doubt a "Mom and Pop" motel built in the 60's and now has been swallowed up by the chain. The room was somewhat old, but it had fairly new furnishings, had recently been painted, and both looked and smelled clean. There was no odor of stale cigarette smoke that you sometimes get in so called non-smoking rooms.
We were more than satisifed. They even have a terrific free breakfast that includes, coffee, two types, of juice, English Muffins and bread for toasting, two kinds of cold cereal, and the best "make your own waffles" I have ever tasted. What more can you ask for in an economy motel?
Okay, they could spend a buck or two and put a new drain plug in the sink and maybe recalk around the bathtub, but it was no big deal. You can spend big bucks at the Sheraton and other places in Burlington, but if you want a clean room at a decent price, this is the place for you.
