This was our second stay at Back Inn Time. The Inn is beautiful, even more so with the new landscaping and decoration touches, and the owner went out of her way to accomodate our needs. The Inn is on a quiet street but within walking distance of downtown's many good restaurants. As we are frequent travellers to this area of Vermont we will most certainly return.

We chose to visit on the Memorial holiday weekend. From the moment Pauline had collected us at the RR station, we were impressed at how friendly our host was. Although only a 10 minute walk to the Guest House, the weather unfortunately was miserable - cold and very wet. We fell in love with the Guest House as soon as we walked in. It was beautifully furnished with amazing antique furniture and some awesome paintings. It truly was like stepping back in time! We were thoroughly pleased with our room. It was well furnished, warm and exceptionally clean. Our bed was amazingly comfortable, and gave us a great nights sleep. Breakfast was delicious and something we looked forward to after our 1st morning. We had dinner at the Guest House on 1 of our 3 nights, and again we were delighted with the quality of our meal. Everything was well cooked, very fresh and very tasty. My wife and I are already looking forward to our 2nd visit n the Fall. Would I change anything to make our visit better? Only the weather! Pauline has gone to a great deal of work and expense to create the perfect B&B getaway, and I really think she has done a great job.

My husband & I stayed at Back Inn Time recently & I'd have to say it was the worst B&B we have ever stayed at. The owner had volunteered to collect us from the railway station when we arrived but forgot we were coming so we were left stranded in the dark & cold until a railway employee called the house & someone came down for us. Our room was very dirty & in need of repair & just simple maintenance. The pillar wash basin moved when you turned the taps on, long cobwebs hung from the bathroom ceiling & there was other people's hair everywhere, including floor, pillows & bathroom fittings. Face washers & some towels were tattered & grey. The shower cubicle was separate to the bathroom & you could close either the door of the shower bay or the door of the cubicle, not both, so water splattered in to the room. We switched rooms after one night, & our previous room was occupied by someone else that night, if there was any cleaning between occupants, we didn't see any evidence of it. Breakfast was tasty, but crockery & cutlery were dirty, it took a while to sort through the mugs to find a clean one for your coffee.

Stayed here for two nights. This is an old home that has been very skillfully restored with beautiful antiques in the whole house, but the bed in our room was horrible. We had a hard time sleeping because it was so uncomfortable. The room could have been more clean - dust bunnies on the floor. The shower curtain was moldy (am allergic to mold) which made me sneeze when I stepped into the shower. The curtains on the window needed to be washed. My husband and I like to read in bed, but there was only one bedside lamp. I reserved this room since it has an attached bathroom, but we felt we paid more too much for what we got. Pauline, the innkeeper, and her son were very nice and made us feel at home. The breakfast on both mornings was great. They did not have decaffinated coffee, but did have herb tea. The maple syrup was wonderful and we were guided to the local merchant with the best prices - bought 3 pints! I do not think we will stay here again if we ever make it to upstate Vermont. The one positive comment is that it is close to downtown which made walking the neighborhood good. Pauline also took us to the train station on the morning we left town.

We stayed one night at Back Inn Time. Breakfast was wonderful in the morning and the Inn was clean and pretty. Our room was very pretty and clean. We were very happy with our choice in Bed and Breakfasts.

Though St. Albans is a bit off the beaten path for Vermont tourists, Back Inn Time is an outstanding lodging option for those wishing to discover the area or explore the local rail trail. The inn is located about a quarter mile from downtown, making it an easy walk to the small restaurants, town square, and 3-screen cinema on the quaint New England main street.

Back Inn Time is a Bed and Breakfast. It is not a faceless five-star hotel. It is run by a real live person named Pauline who has lovingly restored each unique room over the past ten years. Breakfast is homemade and prepared by hand every morning. It was delicious, and Pauline is incredibly accommodating. Truly, we felt like guests in her home.

Our experience at Back Inn Time was very clean and bug-free, including the bedrooms, common areas, and both of the shared bathrooms in the hallway. The house and grounds are beautiful. Pauline is as warm and welcoming as can be, and I get the sense that anybody and everybody is welcome regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. Definitely worth a weekend visit.

The worst B & B I have ever stayed at. Dirty, including hair in the bathroom sink, mold in the shower, torn upholstery. The bed was filled with hard lumps. Breakfast was virtually inedible. What a shame, because the gardens are beautiful and the exterior is so pretty.
