I've stayed at this hotel several times. It's got clean rooms and a nice pool. They have a sauna but it hasn't been working that well.
Although it's possible that it break and they fix it, I've run into malfunctions more then once.
Breakfast is here is "continental" -- just the basics, nothing fancy.
Ramada (across the the street) has a much better food :-)
But I was able to stay here at a cheaper rate and they have Ponderosa right next door for dinner.

We had reserved the whirlpool suite with the fireplace for New Years Eve and Jan. 1st. The rate was great, $125 a night. Then when we traveled from NY to Vt to Celebrate the Holiday everything fell apart.
Having the worst stomach flu ever did not help, but hearing upon our arrival that the room was unavailible because a former employee booked it knowing that it was already reserved, they said there wasn't a phone number to call and change the reservation and that the employee was fired because of this. The room they gave us was a very plain room, no fireplace, no double tv's, no fridge, no microwave and very certainly no whirlpool tub. It was not clean, the tub had black stuff in it and the towels were not fresh & the iron was covered with wax, & when we asked at the desk about this we were told it was caused by skiers. We were given champagne to make up for the mistake and a gift certificate to return for another weekend in the proper room. We did not stay the 2nd night. Theresa was the manager on duty and though she tried hard to help there wasn't much she could do to make up for our weekend getaway being ruined. 2004 ended very badly and part of that was due to the mistakes and problems at the RED ROOF INN.

Stayed at the Red Roof Rutland despite the iffy customer reviews we read on Trip Advisor. Our stay was from 10/22/04 - 10/24/04, and we had the WHIRLPOOL SUITE... highly recommend this room!

The rack rate for the whirlpool suite can be pricey, but check out the Inn's direct website for great offers. We got the room for $125/night and that included a complimentary bottle of champagne ~ nice touch considering it's a Red Roof Inn.

Room itself is exactly as pictured on their website, very nicely decorated... Bath & Body Works soaps/shampoos/conditioners, stand-up shower, partial divider between bedroom and living room areas, comfortable and clean furniture & bed, 2 televisions, double-sided GAS FIREPLACE (definite plus! made it nice and cozy), very clean 2-person jacuzzi with mirrored walls, just an overall great room. Only minor criticism we have is that the room's door wasn't aligned very well and we could often times hear the housekeeping staff in the hallway mid-morning, like I said - very minor complaint. The room is actually pretty far removed from everything else... keeps it relatively quiet.

The Inn staff were very friendly and courteous - the lobby is very warm and welcoming, has that "Vermont" feel to it... fine woodwork, fireplace, etc. They also offer complimentary internet access in the lobby for guests, we used it once. The continental breakfast is great -- waffles, bagels, english muffins, hard boiled eggs, juice, milk, coffee, etc.

About a 10-15 minute ride to Killington Road, nice scenic ride.
Would definitley stay in this suite again!

This hotel got three diamonds from AAA so I was shocked to find mold growing in our bathroom, toilet paper stuffing the hole left in the door by a previous larger knob & lock, and a terribly strong perfumey smell in the room. When I complained about the smell the front desk said it was just the cleaning solutions and every other room would smell the same. The only salvation was that the window opened. It wasn't enough. The place gave me the heebie jeebie creeps.

Clean rooms, excellent location (within walking distance of shopping centre & restaurants), friendly staff. Breakfast was basic but sufficient.

I was extremely dissappointed in the Red Roof Inn in Rutland Vermont. Our room was dirty, (with sticky stuff on the bed, a cluster of old cobwebs hanging down from the corner wall and the bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned).

Furthermore, I am someone who appreciates coffee first thing in the morning and they advertised coffee machines in the rooms. When I asked about this I was told that yes, some of the rooms have coffee machines, others don't. I paid full price for this room ($129) and it was more like a $29.95 hotel you would find.
