“Awesome Hog Wings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

Great Rutland hangout with music, upbeat ambiance and delicious food, craft beers and wines by the glass! My first Hog wings made from pork shanks rocked the pig sty! After a Seafood Artisinal Flatbread pizza with mouth-watering lobster, we were filled to the gills. So we took our Duck Fat fries home for later. Nope, as soon as we got home the aroma drew us to open the container. The fries were gone in minutes! This place is a must go when you're in central Vermont.

“Go somewhere else”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

The bartender changed my $2 tip on a $10 bill to $20. I took my statement in and the owner, Darwin, did nothing to help. So, watch out for the Sporty Spice bartender. I didn't know you could serve beer if you wear Hello Kitty accessories. Plus, all these great beers on tap, and the burger and beer night only allows you to get a domestic. Might as well stick to Table 24 or Mountain Top Inn.

“Hoping to become regulars!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

It was a Sunday and my husband and I were looking for some late lunch. Table 24 is our go-to, but they are closed on Sunday...so we walked and to look for something. We had been gone for a year in Alaska and noticed that the Downtown Tavern was something different! We went in and sat down and were immediately greated by the bartender, Laura. The beer selection was just what we were looking for (although I would love to see harpoon or dogfish ipa!) and the food looked interesting. We shared the duck fat fries with two sauces suggested by the bartender (ranch and Thai) served in cool glass blown bowls. They were awesome though maybe not as duck fatty as we had hoped. I got the hummus platter and my husband got the pork shanks. Everything was sooo yummy. The only negative wad that the hummus platter had waaay too much salt, and we had hopped for more to the shank platter for $10. Can't wait to go back! Our service was awesome too!

“Pub Food With Flair”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

Wow! What a wonderful find in Rutland, Vermont. The special of the day, Baseball Steak (thickly cut sirloin wrapped in bacon), was tasty, the Mediterranean Salad with Grilled Figs was delicately balanced, and the free bar-b-que chicken wings at half-time for Sunday night football were an unexpected surprise. And the deep fried chocolate ravioli filled with sweeted marscapone cream and served with chocolate gelato and a chocolate cookie is beyond words. The selection of craft brewed beer was impressive but not overwhelming. We were told that Chef Collin was the creative inspiration for the dessert and specials of the day.

“Very pleasant dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

We went here after strolling downtown at about 9pm - they were one of the only restaurants whose kitchen was open later. Really fun menu. Nice beer list (though they were out of a lot). Food was very solid, and homey. Service was very sweet and nice.
