We stayed two nights at Quechee Inn in August in order to attend a family wedding on the property. We were absolutely delighted by this charming and gracious country inn and would highly recommend it to others who are vacationing in Vermont.

From the moment we drove up we were struck by how beautiful the inn and its surroundings are. The gardens and lawns are well tended and there is ample free parking directly in front of the inn. Check in was swift and friendly and we were shown to our room by an employee. We were on the second floor in room 7, just off the front verandah and overlooking the front lawn. The room was light, bright and clean. The décor was really lovely. The air conditioning was running when we arrived and the temperature was very comfortable. The room was not large, but plenty big enough for the two of us. There was a closet with hangers and iron provided, as well as a bureau and television (with many cable channels). The bathroom was quite small in this room, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

We visited several other rooms on the second floor and they were all a little different. We loved all the rooms along the main hall that face out towards the verandah. They’re large and nicely decorated. However, other family members had a suite (room 17 I believe) that was very spacious but a tad dark for our liking. I think the north side of the building may get less light in general. Our family in the suite also had some trouble with burned out light bulbs and backed up plumbing, but those issues were attended to after the front desk was notified. Our room was much less expensive than the suite and we liked it a lot better. We had no problems there whatsoever.

I should mention that the weekend we stayed there the inn was booked to capacity and very busy with all the wedding preparations. However, there was always someone available at the front desk to answer questions, provide maps and recommend restaurants. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet at the inn each morning. There was a large selection including cereals, muffins, pancakes or waffles, sausage or bacon, eggs, potatoes, coffee and juices. We also enjoyed sitting in the lounge area at night when the bar was open. It’s a great spot to chat with other guests. The wedding’s rehearsal dinner was held on the back lawn and went perfectly. Food and service were wonderful. The wedding itself was absolutely spectacular. The location is so beautiful, and the Inn is clearly skilled at putting on a fine event. From the ceremony to the reception, everything was just lovely. The food was delicious and the service was top notch.

We did have time to explore the village of Quechee and were delighted by how charming and friendly it is. Based on the recommendations made to us at the inn, we ate at Firestone’s and the restaurant at the Simon Pearce glass factory. Both were great, with Simon Pearce being truly special and delicious. We loved the gorge and all the activities available in the area. All in all, we really couldn’t have had a better experience at Quechee Inn and in the town of Quechee. Certainly, when you come to a country inn you shouldn’t expect a Four Seasons type of environment- it's more rustic than that. But we found the inn to be everything we had hoped for and more.

  • Liked — Charming building and grounds, good service, complimentary breakfast, perfect wedding venue
  • Disliked — Some in our party had lighting/plumbing problems in their room

In no way worth the $225 we paid after the discount we received for the awful experience - not only was the room dilapidated, but the lack of attention to detail was appalling.

After being assured that there was air conditioning, the window unit did not work properly. In the middle of the night we were so hot that we tried to open the windows, but there were no screens and too many bugs outside. At that point, we discovered that both the windows and panes were filthy. In the bathroom, paint was badly peeling on walls and ceiling, mold was on walls and floors and countless dead bugs lay in the ceiling light. In the morning, we actually discovered trash from the previous guest - tags off a pair of socks - in our bed. Also a result of sloppy housekeeping, we found no toilet paper, as well as a chewed on pen and used pad of paper on the nightstand by our bed.

We'd checked into hotel during the afternoon without bringing in our luggage. When we returned to the hotel around 9:30 at night there was no one around to rectify the issues that could have been resolved. We would have left and gone to another hotel, had we not had exhausted kids in tow. By the way, the crib we requested when making the reservations and checking in was not in the room.

While staff at the front desk did take $20 off the price of our room when we checked out, they did not appear at all concerned, shocked, or surprised to hear our catalog of complaints. Perhaps this was not the first time they'd heard such grievances. I e-mailed the hotel manager regarding our stay, but never heard back from him. Go somewhere else.

My husband and I visited VT for the first time during the Balloon Festival in June of 04. We had a very nice room and a fabulous dinner with gourmet quality food. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, with a wide variety of foods. Our first morning during breakfast the hot air balloons went over the Inn and landed behind! Our waitress let us know and we ran out to enjoy them! We are planning to visit again this Balloon Festival and hope to stay at the Inn. Yes it is a little pricey but for a romantic weekend away with a nice room and unbelievably great food we would choose this Inn again. W. Keating, Westborough, MA.

My husband and I stayed at The Quechee Inn about four years ago and still to this day I remember how unpleasant it was there. I had read about The Quechee Inn and it sounded beautiful. Well, don't judge a book by it's cover because it looks beautiful from the outside, but our room was another story. We had gotten a honeymoon suite thinking "This should be such a nice room." Think again. As we made our way up the stairs there were tons (and I mean tons) of spiders and spider webs hanging down everywhere like the place hadn't been cleaned in years. Not only that, but there were men working on a room next to us, banging and pounding all day. Our room was nothing special, definatly NOT worth $200 per night. We were so dissappointed with The Inn that we left a day early to go home. Not that The Quechee Inn has anything to do with the way people act in their town, but I found Quechee, VT very snobby and not at all welcoming. If you don't mind this, then you probably wouldn't mind staying here, but if you like the more friendly version of a vacation, try looking someplace else. Hope this helps people by not wasting more money at The Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm.

The Quechee Inn is a very nice facility at a beautful location. Walking along Quechee Gorge and driving through the hills to see colors is a great experience. The common area is very nice with a comfortable fireplace during fall and winter.

The rooms are somewhat pricey for the size but the overall experience is worth the cost.
