“Perfect wedding weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2010

We recently had our wedding at the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farms - spectacular location, the Inn is clean with a lot of charm and character, the food is outstanding (best pancakes ever!), staff is very friendly and attentive, Quechee Gorge and the town of Woodstock, Simon Pierce, golf course, hiking, canoeing, all nearby... basically I can't say enough good things about this place.

We treated our wedding as a "local destination" wedding and rented the Inn for the weekend (25 rooms). We had just over 100 guests total coming from Boston (2 hr drive), Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New Jersey, Missouri, Georgia, and Maryland. Renting out the Inn was a pretty big financial commitment, and we were nervous about doing it, but they were flexible on filling the Inn for Friday night. In any case it turned out to be the best thing we could have done, having the Inn to ourselves for the entire weekend, and having both the ceremony and reception, made the whole affair more intimate and less stressful, and so much fun! They know how to do weddings there too, tent all set up on the back patio, ceremony and cocktail reception in the front lawn and patio, we even did the rehearsal dinner there on Friday night on the front patio - everything was turn key, very professional. Everything went off without a hitch too, if anything went wrong we didn't see or hear about it. We will definitely be going back for anniversaries!

The Quechee Inn is filled with charm and personality. We came for a relaxing weekend with three other couples and enjoyed our stay immensely. We took advantage of all the inn had to offer; complimentary full breakfast (very nice), cocktails in the courtyard, a fantastic dinner, after dinner drinks on the second floor porch, and to finish off the night a few songs around the piano. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, the wine suggestions were right on. Our rooms were comfortable and each uniquely decorated. This was our second stay at the inn and I look forward to when we can return.

Our wedding was more beautiful then we could have ever imagined. The Quechee Inn offered the perfect country backdrop with the right combination of elegance. Our friends and family enjoyed the Inn so much they didn’t want to leave. Everyone at the Quechee Inn was so kind that I wish I could have my wedding over and over again!

I stayed at the Quechee Inn over Labor Day weekend for a wedding. I have stayed in many 3 and 4 star hotels and B&B's before, and this is over-ranked as a 3 star (AAA rating). Our room was never cleaned in the three nights we stayed there. The bed was made, so I thought it was just a bad cleaning job the first night until the next time when I actively looked at surfaces and the floor in the bathroom, to discover nothing had been wiped down. The garbage had not been taken out. The features in the room, especially the bathroom, are woefully outdated. The bed was okay, and the breakfast was fairly good. We paid a considerable amount of money for the size and quality of the room and overall we were quite disappointed. I would not recommend staying here unless you want to feel ripped off. To be fair, we were so busy with the wedding details we didn't have time to report the lack of cleaning to the staff, as every time we walked by the front desk they were helping someone else and we didn't have time to wait. Still, there should be some quality control in checking on the housekeeping.

The setting is Vermont country splendor. Right next to Wilderness trails, across the road from a beautiful mill pond and less than five minutes by car from the Quechee gorge (which is a natural wonder.)

Our room and bed were very comfortable with antique Vermont furniture, four windows (two looking out on the beautiful grounds, two looking out on the Mill pond and another window in the bathroom. The reception and all employees could not have been more helpful in providing extra comfort (for my husband whose hip was bothering him and using a cane) and also for suggestions and directions to nearby Dartmouth College and the Hanover Inn.

The phone did not ring in our room. I was advised there was a call for me and answered it at the switchboard. The Manager actually came to our room to determine what the problem was (the ringer was on too low) and the problem was solved.

Kudos to all the thoughtful, generous employees that we were lucky enough to be served by.

We visited the Inn on a special deal that we found for staying one night mid-week. The special included dinner at the inn in addition to a normal room with breakfast service. The value of this package was superb. The food was extremely good, and the staff was very accommodating to my wife's gluten intolerance (a number if the menu items were gluten free including the filet mignon and dauphin potatoes that she ordered). In addition, it was a very very hot stretch in Vermont (over 90 for a solid week) and the rooms were plenty cool with a good sized air conditioner in the room. The breakfast was also quite good. The staff was very friendly and we had several pleasant chats with one of the owners. The inn is a bit rustic and the rooms showed their age a bit, but not in a bad way. In all, an excellent experience that we would highly recommend.
