“Also known as VINS...this local loves to take visitors there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This is a must see when kids or nature lovers are at my home. During good weather there are sessions outside with raptors flying from one person to another receiving food. This weekend was cold, so the session was inside. Saw a couple of owls and learned a lot about the owls in North America. There are 18 different owls in North America!

You can see if there are any recovering birds and raptors in the ICU by looking through a window. They have a recovering songbird gazebo. The raptors on display are part of their education and demo center. They are permanent residents as they have injuries or malformations that would make them unsuccessful in the wild. VINS receives birds from other centers in other parts of the country. They also have raptors in rehab for future release once they are ready to be successful back in the wild.

Kids love this place!!!

“Quick visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Excellent set of birds to go and see. A most informative talk from the handlers. There's also a nice walk through the woods. The birds there seem to be well looked after. You have to look very closely to find one of the owls.

“Unusual late fall adventure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We did have a great time with an orientering adventure. I went back once with a school group and the field trip is probably not a great way to judge any place since I am responsible to give attention to behavior of children.
I would like to go back and see what is done in the spring and summer.

“To be a highlight of your VT trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Great staff. Be prepared to take the time and sit down for one of the outdoor educational flight programs. Check ahead on their website and verify schedule. The display of raptors and other wildlife is great, but the best part of the experience is to benefit from the live demonstration. Very knowledgeable and friendly people.
