“Decadent Food, Great hosts, Extraordinary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2008

My wife and I were in the area attending a wedding. We are active geocachers and were looking forward to hiking and geocaching in this beautiful area. As true Mainers, the location of this fine property was perfect for us.

We were greeted by Jane on our arrival who noticed our GPS units and commented that she her husband Dave are also active geocachers. (Geocaching is a sophisticated treasure hunt searching for containers hidden in pretty places and found with the assistance of hand-help GPS units.) David and Jane have loaner units and everything necessary to get their guests out on the trails looking for treasure!

But the Inn is the subject here. The amenities and appointments are very tastefully done. We stayed in the Lincoln room that was very comfortable and had a wonderful five head shower!

The food is world class and the wine list is extensive. We opted for Chef's Indulgence one evening. All the head waiter Nate told us about the meal was "You'll be amazed" and we were. One item, just to whet your appetite, Alaskan Halibut Confit with Heirloom Beans, Red Pepper, Tomato and Fennel Piparade, with Spicy Crawfish Broth! This was part of seven courses with wine selections/recommendations that were a perfect match.

With impeccable service, friendly owners and staff, this lovely property will leave most with a fond memory and a desire to return!

  • Liked — Friendly owners and staff, the location, and the food!
  • Disliked — We spent a lot of money on food, but we'd do it again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I were looking for a get away from the city where we could relax and enjoy ourselves while being able to eat amazing food. I must say that The Inn at Weathersfield more than met our expectations. It is in a perfect location close to many acitivies as well as still being off the beaten path and a bit secluded. Jason was amazing and inventive while supporting the local and seasonal movement. We relished each bite every time we ate at The Inn. David and Jane were absolutely amazing and really went the extra mile with detail. The rooms, food, and wine were all perfect and there is no doubt in my mind that we will be returning in the future.

had a great 4 day stay at this quality inn....owners really pay attention to the things that matter and create an over-all vibe that is sophisticated without being prententious and rustic without being shabby. These people care about what they doing are and are very hands on. No trace of B&B creepiness either. I would make the trip for the pub alone but combined with the rooms the place is unbeatable. Im no foodie but live in manhattan and will say the quality of the restaurants food is on par with most high end restaurants there. What a great place to relax, recharge and enjoy yourself.

The only slight negative for me was our mattress. It was a bit lumpy. Also, the rug in our room could've used a little vacuuming.

  • Liked — amnience, food
  • Disliked — matress, cleanliness of rug

My wife and I just spent two nights at the Inn at Weathersfield and loved every minute; the moment I walked in I knew we would. The owners make you feel right at home and you really feel you are being pampered at a good friends house. Pick one of many inviting areas to sit, find the chair that's the most comfy for you and just relax. Choose from a great bar menu or the high quality restaurant. We did both and were not disappointed on either count. It's also a bonus to know that almost everything on the menu is locally produced. Our room was all we had hope for with a very comfortable bed and quality linen.

The skiing we were in VT for was not as good as we had hoped but it really doesn't matter when you are staying somewhere like this. Leaving the slopes early wasn't difficult knowing what we would return to. If you can't relax at the Inn at Weathersfield there's no hope for you!

  • Liked — The very relaxed and warm atmosphere.
  • Disliked — Nothing.

We spent New Years at the inn. It was a lovely, quiet retreat with spectacular food and a wine list that goes on forever. We don’t normally go away on New Years because we like to avoid the 'big hoopla' - but the inn was just what the doctor ordered. A great dinner, quaint toast at New Years with other guests (and the staff!) and then off to our room. This is certainly not a place to come if you are looking for a "Times Square experience".

The inn is in a rural setting, so there is no shopping etc nearby. The innkeeper was friendly and directed us easily to nearby towns for whatever we needed or wanted. But we didn't really want for anything - the staff was very accommodating.

The food was extraordinary. We did the Chef's Menu on New Years Eve which was flawless. The other night of our stay we ate in the Tavern, which was equally as tasty, but a little more casual. We were relieved to see a breakfast menu (we hate when we are forced to eat what the innkeeper is making - and don’t like the idea of buffet where food sits out for hours) - and breakfast was cooked to order, fresh and delicious.

Our room had been recently renovated and was very comforable. Fireplace, nice linens & towels, robes and slippers - a nice touch. Honestly, dollar for dollar - this was an excellent choice for us. We totally enjoyed the visit and would highly recommend this inn to others seeking a quiet retreat.

We stayed at this inn as part of a New England tour. The place is just charming. Exactly what you would expect in Vermont. Fireplaces, hot cider, warm cookies and even a little dog to play with. The big surprise was the restaurant. We didn't expect to find New York City quality food, but the chef is really a talent and everything we ate from breakfast to dinner was outstanding. The innkeepers are enthusiastic about wine, and they have areally nice, eclectic wine list with some pretty rare wines.

Some other reviewers mentioned that the inn is a little remote - that's true- but it was easy to get to other neat towns. We went snowmobiling in Ludlow (where Okemo Mt is) and did some shopping in Woodstock. It was apleasure to be off the beaten path and get some peace and quiet. Take the time to find this place and you wont regret it.

We have had the pleasure of visiting this Inn twice in the last two years and have been meaning to write a strong recommendation for some time. Our first visit was in June 2006 and second in July 2007 and both visits have left us with good memories. The inn is a lovely rambling old stately home which has been, and continues to be, lovingly restored and renovated room by room. The grounds are also being carefully tended and upgraded so that flower and kitchen gardens, pond, stand of ancient pine and other magic corners outside are integral to the enjoyment of the Weathersfield. We have always stayed in a room at the top of one wing of the Inn ( called Martin's Mill I believe) . While the climb up to the room is by way of a narrow winding staircase the room itself is spacious with a small sitting area, super comfortable bed and a lovely private rooftop patio where you can sunbathe or take in all the stars in the sky along with a good glass of wine from a thoughtful wine list.Thankfully this inn avoids the faux Victorian look which so often plagues country inn decor. The look is country elegant with many contemporary artisanal touches in the furniture, fixtures etc. We also enjoyed the fact that the forced communal meals and perkieness of B and B's was not part of the experience here. Here, in fact , is a lovely, serious dining room which aspires to celebrate local ingredients and farmers . While we have only visited in summer we can imagine what a warm and special place it would be to be dining here as the snow falls outside. Many details ( such as intelligent video collection, excellent reading materials, fire pit on the outside patio, pub type side to the dining room , superior bed linens , towels etc ) speak volumes of the care, taste and pride with which the Inn at Weathersfield is being run. We will certainly hope to return even though we travel all the way from Canada to experience again the peace, beauty, comfort and good taste of the Weathersfield.
