“food great, room nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Had need for a one night stay on a "leaf peeper" excursion. Dinner was very good, service a bit slow at first but picked up. Breakfast was even better with respect to quality, quantity and cost (included). We stayed in Walker House, somewhat of a coach house constructed maybe 50 feet from main building. Exterior built with efficiency and cost in mind (no charm) but made up for it with a very nice room. A-frame room with ceilings at apex approximating 16 feet, gas light fireplace, with TV affixed over the fireplace. Shower pressure good. Had no Dartmouth affiliation but property is well located on the main arterial off the interstate, 1 and 1/2 miles to King Arthur flour headquarters and Dartmouth. Can't imagine any Green folk finding better accommodations. Highly recommended.

PS don't forget to say hi to Emily the Moose mounted at the check in area. Also say hello to Gretchen, a woman who truly loves her job and will make your stay wonderful (A person, not a moose).

Fun visit, well located in quaint walking village of Norwich. Room comfortable, bathroom small but tidy and adequate. Slept too long in the comfortable bed. Their own microbrew in pub. Easy off street parking. TWest

We were looking for a simple stop-over on our way to a Maine wedding, and found ourselves in this unexpectedly excellent inn. Very warm, competent staff. The rooms in the Walker building were spacious, immaculate and beautifully decorated. Although very new construction, it did manage to project New England character. Particularly charming was the gas fireplace. Only the July heatwave kept us from trying it out (very good AC kept us comfortable). The pub had excellent beer on tap and again, food that really exceeded expectations. Just a couple of doors down from the Inn is Dan & Whits, a wonderful Vermont General Store that enabled us to stock up on snacks for the journey and also purchase some local Vermont products for gifts. If every interstate exit had a Norwich Inn, wouldn't travelling be a sweet pleasure?

First time visit to this area and just loved the Norwich Inn. The Inn itself is charming- beautiful woodwork, sitting areas and sunny and spacious dining area ( as well as a few private dining rooms). The staff is top notch- very attentive and eager to make guests feel welcome and at home. We stayed in the new Walker building behind the Inn and I was impressed. New rooms with all the amenities yet it felt very homey and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable- and the room was immaculate.
Had dinner and breakfast at the Inn and the food was outstanding--very generous portions!! The breakfast Frittata could serve two. Also don't miss the brewery beer made at the Inn. Excellent!
Nice sightseeing in the area in Quecche Vt and the college town of Hanover.
Will definitely return for another weekend!

We stayed one night at this Inn in the rear building called Walker, the preferable place to request a room. Some friends stayed in the main building and found it in need of refurbishing and inconvenient. Our room was quite nice with a sofa, desk, and a gas fireplace that was turned off for the summer. The bed was comfortable but had the type of mattress that moved everytime the other person in the bed moved. The major problem with the room occurred in the morning when the people in the room above were using the shower. Water leaked through our bathroom ceiling in a fairly large amount making a large puddle on the floor. The leak was near the sink making it difficult to use the sink without getting splashed. When we called the front desk, they said they would send someone right over but 2 hours later no one had appeared. When I complained about the leak as I was checking out, the person at the desk said "some people are just not careful". We will probably not stay there again.

Room Tip: If you stay here ask for a room on the second floor to avoid the leaking ceiling.

This is a very comfortable inn. Basic services, decent restaurant, and relatively quiet. Charmingly decorated - sort of what you would expect in small town Vermont. Luckily it was cool enough outside as the AC unit in the room was not much more than a fan. Unfortunately the windows were difficult to keep open - next to impossible given window blinds that did not pull up. People were friendly and the hotel and grounds are well tended. All in all, a pleasant visit.

Room Tip: You probably will want a room away from the pub/restaurant which has outdoor seating.

For a family reunion, this turned out to be an excellent choice. There are many brand new motel rooms, but one can also stay in the old Inn itself. There is also a relaxing bar with home brewed beers! Good service, too!
