Over the years, we have eaten many times here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff are helpful, especially in the pub, when looking for a recommendation of one of Jasper Murdoch's Alehouse special brews on tap. In the summer, you can sit outside on the patio and enjoy a beer or a meal, but there is not much of a view, as it overlooks the side of the Dan & Whit's building. Cars also drive past into the rear parking lot, so it can be noisy. We often choose the crabcakes here, washed down with an Old Slipperyskin India Pale Ale or a Whistling Pig Red Ale, before going on to a late movie in Hanover. I have also enjoyed Oh Be Joyful!
Breakfast is a more leisurely meal in the main dining room, where you can have the choice of oatmeal or granola, fresh fruit, egg dishes (but I recommend skipping the home-fries with the Eggs Benedict, if you are watching your diet), pancakes, and the like. The waitresses will constantly refill your coffee cups, and it is a nice way to start the day. The menu for lunch has a wide choice, and, in addition to the usual salads, soups, and traditional pub fare, there are some more substantial entrees, including vegetarian dishes. This summer, I particularly enjoyed the poached salmon, served with citrus/cilantro butter and cucumber slaw. Dinner is an expanded version of the lunch menu but with the addition of heartier beef entrees and a choice of several fish, including catfish, and a couple of Asian dishes. I tend to stick with fish or chicken and a salad here.
