“FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We had an absolutely delightful time here. We were about a 10 minute drive from Montpelier, surrounded by forest and mountains. Our hosts were absolutely delightful. And the breakfast was scrumptious.

Room Tip: We chose the top floor. Kind of like an artist's grotto with a private bathroom. Sweet!

My husband and I spent our 11th Anniversary at this wonderful B&B. And
it also happened to be my father in law's who lives in Vermont 85 th
birthday party that same weekend.

We search for a b&b in central Vermont to stay, that would be charming, clean and affordable.
We found the High Hill Inn that had everything we were looking for.

The inn keepers are wonderful the food is delicious the rooms are comfortable and charming. The views are spectacular! We had some very interesting guest that was stay there when we were there. People from Texas, Canada and Mexico.

We highly recommend it!

We stayed at the High Hill Inn while traveling through New England on our summer vacation. Anne Marie and Joe are fantastic Innkeepers. Our teenage son loved playing with their dog on the spacious and beautiful grounds. Our family felt very at home and we loved the delicious breakfast that was prepared for us. The outdoor patios are very relaxing and offer gorgeous views of the surrounding mountainside.

We hope to travel again to Vermont, when we do we will absolutely stay at the High Hill Inn. Our family gives this Inn our highest recommendation.

We had a great experience here, absolutely gorgeous weather to enjoy the views didn't hurt! It was within easy distance to downtown Montpelier and within an hour of the other locations we were visiting, so very handy but in a very quiet location.
Anne Marie and Joe were very nice, helpful and checking on us without at all being intrusive.
Loved that there were animals, horses, cats, dogs, chickens! We enjoyed talking about our animals and what brought them to Montpelier.
The house is absolutely gorgeous, very well laid out and extremely comfortable feeling, you almost forget you're a guest and feel like family. We definitely will be back!

Room Tip: The mountain view side was absolutely gorgeous to wake up to

We surely enjoyed talking about our animals, especially the dogs and cats! We don't allow any of these animals inside the Inn because of potential animal dander allergies with some guests. But we enjoy them outside for walks, companionship, and for usefulness for protection of our chickens, for example! It was fun to talk with our guests about the dogs they get as a foster home for dogs.

We stayed three nights in July 2012 while researching VCFA's low-residency MFA writing program and were absolutely tickled with Ann Marie and Joe's home in Montpelier. We've stayed in bed and breakfasts all over the world and would definitely rank this towards the top both for the setting and the hospitality.

Every morning we would wake up to gorgeous views of the verdant hills of Vermont and a made-to-order breakfast by Ann Marie (Scallion and goat cheese omelets, french toast with bread from the local artisan bakery, bacon, sausage, you name it). On top of that, Ann Marie provided us with an endless supply of homemade Nut Bread (made by Joe) and Amish Butter that would make a trip worthwhile in itself.

We stayed in the Loft and came back in the afternoons to enjoy the peace and quiet. I would highly recommend the High Hill Inn for anyone wanting a peaceful getaway in the Northeast.

This young couple were delightful guests who enjoyed a little getaway from their 4 young children while they looked at the Vermont College of Fine Arts as a potential school for one of them to attend. We had fun talking with them each morning at breakfast. They really liked their room - The Loft - which is on the 3rd floor and has a sloping attic roofline in a couple areas of the space there. They enjoyed their small balcony and its vantage point of most of the acerage of the High HIll Inn property as well as expansive views of the Green Mountains. We exchanged email addresses so we can keep in touch with this awesome couple.

High Hill Inn is a very pretty, very New Englandy retreat. The hosts were pleasant and helpful, the breakfasts ample and yummy. (Try their Nut Bread -- it's the best!)

I stayed in the LOFT room, and found it oddly laid out by virtue of the extreme gable roof lines. Until I got my bearings, I did manage to whack my head several times getting into and out of bed!!
By the 3rd night, I was much more careful and aware of my surroundings.

Bathroom was very nice, shower fine and the A/C was sufficient to keep even a 100 degree day at bay.

Room Tip: The suite on the 2nd floor looked very lovely. My room was a good retreat for me, as I was doing a w...

We enjoyed visiting with this guest who lives in Connecticutt. She showed us photos of places in Connecticutt that are meaningful to her. It was interesting to learn about her family and places she's traveled to. We realize the Loft Room, which she stayed in, has a sloping roof line in a couple of places, so we always mention this roof line when we are describing our Rooms to potential guests. Many couples quite enjoy this Loft area because of the small balcony that provides an excellent vantage point (and photo opp!) to view the Green Mountains including the Sugarbush Ski Mountain in the distance, as well as the mostly evergreen forest that surrounds the High HIll Inn, the pond on the property, and the horses grazing out back. As long as the guests remember that they must "watch their head" in these few places - entering their Queen Size Room, the sides of the Queen Size Room and a small part of the bathroom. The other advantage of this Loft is that there is a nice leather sofa in the sitting area and a wide flat screen TV with many cable channels.

My husband, son, and I recently stayed at the High Hill Inn for 5 glorious days with perfect weather, wonderful food, and real hospitality. We will definitely stay there again! Joe and Anne Marie were terrific hosts and definitely made us feel completely at home; almost like family. Breakfast consisted of freshly baked banana nut bread that would melt in your mouth, fresh eggs from their own chickens and scrumptious bacon. The views from the deck are fabulous and the property is so convenient to downtown Montpelier, it was easy to find our way to all the sights we were hoping to see while we were there. Overall, I have to rate this bed and breakfast as simply terrific. Definitely worth a visit.

Room Tip: The third floor loft features an attic-type roof, so be aware of the roofline as you enter your bedr...

We thoroughly enjoyed the visit we had with these guests for 5 nights at the Inn. We shared so many of life's experiences in common. They brought their 20 year old son to enjoy it here before he goes to the Army in the Fall. They really relaxed here and temporarily got out of the very intense heat further south in the Middle Eastern Atlantic States.
