“Lush green trails to a stone lookout tower”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Right in the middle of this small capital is this beautiful park loaded with wildlife, trails, resting spots and at the top (15 minute walk from your car) is a stone tower with interior stairs to a 360 degree view you'll love.

Right in downtown Montpelier. Many hiking and cross country ski trails, picnic areas. Great place to walk your dog and meet people.

“Dog Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

A large tract of woods in the middle of Montpelier. The path up from behind the statehouse is quite fun, a jaunty little effort that is rewarded by views from the tower atop the hill. Paths radiate out in all directions, and a large collection of generally mellow dogs can also be found at the park on almost any day.

“Exactly what you want”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2012

Hubbard park is one of those rare places that caters exactly to your needs.
You can go to throw a ball for your overheated pooch in the pond, go hiking for miles, climb the tower built by the CCC and breathe in the (pollen and) views, sled down the big hill, bring a barbeque and picnic; in short, the perfect park.

Within walking access of downtown Montpelier (a steep access) you can go for a twenty minutes or an overnight! There are a couple of shelters and firepits, road access through much of the park, and numerous off-shoot trails to keep regulars interested and wandering!

It is worth noting that this is a VERY DOG FRIENDLY park. You are very likely to meet dogs off-leash, in varying states of dampness and friendliness. I have never had a negative encounter with a Hubbard Park pooch.
