If you are looking for WOW, try some place else. If you want a clean hotel at a good price, try this Comfort Inn.

We booked a king suite for our one night stay and truthfully, I've seen apartments that were smaller. This wasn't a luxury suite at some fancy hotel but it also wasn't the one room with kitchen and sitting area that some hotels are now calling a suite. The bedroom was entirely separate. Our suite was at the far end of the corridor and right by an entrance.

The hotel is clean and very well kept up. There are plants and shrubs along the front of the building making it look very inviting. While the decor in our room was simple, it was not shabby. The rug was clean and well vacuumed. The bathroom looked almost brand-new --especially the tub. The bed linens were all clean and stain free. The bottom sheets was a fitted sheet not a flat sheet that would not stay tucked in. The sofa and chairs were clean and comfortable. There was a dining table in the kitchenette was well as a small desk.

The front desk staff was very nice and welcoming. The housekeeping staff was very hard working.

The help yourself continental breakfast included: waffles (not the toaster kind), boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal and instant oatmeal, juice, bagels, English muffins, danish, donuts, muffins, cream cheese, peanut butter, jelly. Milk, coffee, decaf, tea

Families take note: 2 TVs in the suite!! WIFI in the rooms and a computer in the lobby--along with chess boards, dominoes, cribbage board and a TV.

Even though we didn't use the kitchenette, I checked it out so I could report it here. The dishes were clean and so was the fridge but I forgot to open the microwave (sorry).

There is an Applebee's restaurant and a Mobil gas station with mini-mart right on the hotel property. There is a Shaw's supermarket across the street.

The hotel is simple to find. It is right at the first light off the interstate and then right into the Mobil gas station. The hotel is behind the gas station.

My family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) stayed here for one night en route from Maine to Connecticut, to be close by the Ben & Jerry's factory tour. The suites do not have a door separating the rooms, so I booked 2 rooms at the government rate of $83 per night before taxes. We wanted adjoining rooms but they were across the hall from each other. We had a little trouble finding the place and our call to the hotel was initially not helpful ("Head for the interstate." huh?), again Yahoo Maps direction were also confusing. On check-in, the staff members were nice but seemed a little inexperienced.
The rooms were very small, and reasonably clean (I did spot an old Q-Tip on the bathroom floor hiding behind the trash basket..eww!). The free serve-yourelf breakfast was OK/the breakfast room was also small and got crowded quickly. The biggest drawback is the lack of an elevator, and I also had problems with the internet access on the hotel lobby computer (maybe due to pouring rain?).

  • Liked — Easy access to freeway (once you find it), free breakfast
  • Disliked — lack of elevators, lack of true 2 room suite with a door inbetween

My family and I stayed at Comfort Inn Montpelier in July 2007. The location was good: quiet setting, yet near stuff. Tourist attractions are a reasonable driving distance. A gas station and grocer is within walking distance, which is good for last minute items.

The front desk service was great at all times. We checked in at about 3:30pm. We requested a specific room location, and yes, we got it :) Later that evening, the clerk who delivered the cot was very friendly and prompt.

The room was good. We got the suite we wanted. There was a half-eaten bagel underneath the climate control unit, and the shower curtain was overdue for a change. Yet overall the room was pretty clean.

A funny thing happened right after I checked-in. The housekeepers were still in the building, finishing up their work, and one of them heard my room door close, and she burst into my room, yelling about some trash bag in the hallway, thinking I was another housekeeper! As soon as she saw me standing in the middle of the room holding my backpack, she's like "ooops sorry!" I laughed it off. It really was kinda funny.

We've stayed here 3 times in 3 years, and will likely return someday! :)

  • Liked — I like how breakfast is served in a separate dining area. Not in the middle of the lobby.
  • Disliked — Although the room was fairly clean, a little more attention to detail was needed.

The hotel was clean and safe. We arrived late and settled into our room and found that a rollaway bed we had requested was already in the room. The breakfast choices were more than adequate and when we asked the hotel clerk for a couple of suggestions for things to see in the area, he printed out directions to several local attactions for us. Overall this was a great hotel to stay at -- nicer than some other Comfort Inns I have been to.

We stayed one night after visiting Ben and Jerry's in Waterbury.
It is only about a 20 minute ride from Ben and Jerry's. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff was courteous and polite. The complimentary breakfast was excellent with a wider variety of foods than you find at most complimentary breakfasts.
This hotel does not have a pool which was a bit of a disappointment for our two kids. If you can do without a pool, I would recommend this hotel.
