Swift House Inn was the perfect getaway for New Years Eve. Fireplaces in the rooms, super comfortable beds and incredibly helpful/accomodating owners. We visited for our anniversary and the owners surprised us with champagne in our room!-;) We had a luscious, amazing dinner at Jessica's, their restaurant ON New Years Eve. Mmmmmm! Everyone at the front desk was beyond helpful. Complimnentary coffee/tea/hot coco & cookies in the lobby. Loved it!!!!!

Room Tip: Stay in The Carriage House. The Main House is above the restaurant, Jessica's, which is deliciou...

My husband and I stayed two nights in the Main House in the Garden Room. The room was nice and had a really nice jacuzzi/shower. The bed was big and comfy. The room also has it's own private entrance right off a nice patio which I am sure would be nice during warmer weather. There is a restaurant which offers dinner on the property however, we did not go there. There is a nice deck for dinning during the warmer months. The breakfast was good but not as filling as I would have liked. Overall we had a nice stay and would go back again.

Chose to Stay in the Swift House Inn for a special get-a-way weekend. From the beginning, they couldn't have done much to improve things. I had originally booked through another travel site, who wouldn't even honor their own coupon. I emailed the inn and then called the next day. Right away, they offered a much better price, and explained the differences in rooms to better meet our needs. We got there late, and they left an envelope on the door with detailed instructions on how to find our room. The room was beautiful, very tastefully done. It had a wood fireplace, and a whirlpool tub for two in the bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable, never even knew when someone got up. Most important was the staff, who were so friendly and offering help. Even brought breakfast to the room when I was sick at no charge. The Owners took it on themselves to provide a special touch for the occasion. The main house was beautiful also, and breakfast came with the room - and they even handled very restrictive diet requirements with no problems. We didn't even use all the facilities, from the sauna, to the library, to the quaint bar in the main house. Couldn't ask for anything more.
It was a beautiful place to go, and will definitely go back another time.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Carriage House - further back from the road, so no noise at all. We were in the Woo...

This lovely Inn offers comfort and warmth amidst period decor, yet offers modern touches like free wifi and 24hour access to coffee/tea; a full breakfast is included in the room rate. I was pleased to be within a short walk of downtown Middlebury shops and restaurants. The Inn itself has an excellent restaurant, Jessica's, with a focus on local products from Vermont. A member of the Select Registry of Inns, Swift House Inn delivers high standards for hospitality and attention to detail.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to traffic noise (although I found the noise to be minimal at night) then a roo...

We stayed three nights at the Swift Inn and would stay there again. Our room was nicely decorated but what sold us on the place was the fact that the owners were thoughful enough to have 2 luggage racks in the rooms. Breakfast was delicious and specials varied each morning. We ate dinner there one night and it was excellent. Most of the food is locally sourced and well prepared. My husband had the beef tenderloin, cooked just right, with a blue cheese sauce, and I had the venison shank, which was fork tender. The wine list is extensive and the bartender is very knowlegable and helpful. Yes, the meal was expensive, but it was very very good. The owners are welcoming and very helpful when asked for suggestions for driving routes around the area and places to eat along the way.

We just happened upon this great place on our way back from a parent weekends. (We think we got the last of a what they had?) We thought we would stop in Middlebury and continue our drive back home the next morning. We were pleasantly surprised to see a nice restaurant in the hotel. We had a drink and dinner which was terrific. The staff was very friendly and the place was just perfect. Comfortable - wireless - clean and just a lovely find. We were thrilled. The owner served us breakfast in the morning and could not have been more welcoming and the food was delicious. So this ranks very high in my "perfect" find list. I will recommend to all my friends.

We had a family reunion at Swift House in Middlebury recently. The rooms were above average in size and very comfortable and clean. The staff was particularly attentive and friendly. Breakfast was excellent each morning. If the weather is okay, I recommend eating outside on the patio. Dinner is available about 4 nights per week and was above average, although expensive. The location is ideal...quiet college town but convenient to many different locales in Vermont. We used Swift House as our headquarters and toured throughout the State. This place offers all the modern comforts with a lovely New England atmosphere. We were all adults. We will consider returning to Swift House in the future.

Room Tip: owners get up early to start operations and have a place over some rooms. You may be disturbed earl...
