“Beautifully restored Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2006

Frank and Julie were wonderful and pleasant hosts for our short one night stay at this amazingly well-kept Inn.

We stayed in the Carriage House in the Green Briar room. The room was immaculate and well situated away from the roadway. The gardens that were right outside our window were beautiful. If we had more time on our hands we would have taken advantage of the beautiful pool outside as well.

Breakfast was outstanding and I would agree with the previous review that Frank's pancakes are to-die-for. Julie made certain that our coffee cups did not run dry. And was quick to recall our names and make proper introductions to those we sat with during our meal. It was a very relaxing atmosphere.

We are delighted we chose the Inn at Manchester. Some very old reviews from several years ago made us almost think twice. But all the newest reviews are RIGHT ON!!

Lastly, the main Inn is splendidly decorated with plently of seating area's, games, a bar for afternoon drinks, a wonderful porch to rest upon, and several rooms to choose to just lay back and read or take a snooze. There is even a very nice plasma TV for those so inclined to catch up on the weather, news, etc. The carriage house even has it's own den to rest in with a TV as well.

Julie and Frank have done an incredible job bringing this beautiful home back to the splendor that it deserves. BRAVO!

We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area. Don't even think twice about booking your stay. It is an awesome experience!

All the amenities of the town are right down the street from shopping; to the Hildene; Spa at the Equinox. We loved mulling around the Northshire bookstore and then had some soup from the adjoining cafe -- delicious.

Places to see and eat at: I highly recommend getting a homemade Margarita from Candeleros Southwestern Grill. Then consider getting some delicious ribs from Laney's. Honestly, ribs are NOT our usual fare but we read that this was the place to try and are so glad we did! We also heard a lot of good things about "Beans" another neighborhood mexican restaurant right down the street from the Inn.

  • Liked — The Inn keepers Julie and Frank, as well as it's close proximity to the area shops/restaurants
  • Disliked — that we didn't spend more time in the main house
  • Tips/Secrets — Spend more than one night so you have more time to relax and enjoy everything the inn has to offer.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Inn at Manchester. We were there for three nights along with some friends. We had an absolutely fabulous time. Our hosts, Frank and Julie, could not have been nicer or more accomodatong. in fact, I have never met better innkeepers, and we have stayed at many B&Bs. Frank carried our luggage up to the third floor without us asking; Julie made us coffee and tea late one evening after we returned and complained that we couldn't find an open coffee house. Then, the next night she offered again; Frank makes the best pancakes I have ever eaten. The breakfast is truly a full breakfast. I also really liked how well cared for the inn and the grounds are. Some B&Bs we stay at are equally old but in need of a lot of repair...not this one!

While you are in Manchester don't miss all the shopping. We also enjoyed hiking and the spa at the Equinox, right down the street.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and wonderful inn keepers
  • Disliked — My shower head wasn't quite as strong as I like. Loved everything else!
  • Tips/Secrets — none I know of

Frank and Julie, the owners of the Inn at Manchester, are two of the most accomodating and friendly people that you will ever meet.

Their inn is exceptionally clean and warm and they have decorated it in great taste.

The breakfast that they served each of the days we were there was delicious and they even went out of their way at night to play board games with my sons.

Thanks!

A three night stay at the Inn at Manchester during the week before Christmas surpassed all expectations. Hosts Julie and Frank Hanes are the most charming, professional, personable, and helpful hosts imaginable. Their inn is beautifully and meticulously maintained, suffused with a welcoming ambience, and lush with original paintings and gorgeous area rugs and carpets. When one's eye travels throughout the inn's interior it is met at all times with visually beautiful design and appealing objects and furniture. The rooms are wonderfully lovely, comfortable and quiet, the beds are fantastically welcoming and the bathrooms are immaculately clean. Breakfasts were delicious and varied, freshly prepared, and minor vegetarian amendments/requests were happily and graciously accomodated. We have been enthusiastically recommending the Inn at Manchester to all friends and family since our return home. This Vermont gem should be experienced by all!

we were a party of 14 from England, and consider ourselves extremely lucky to have found the Inn at Manchester,The warmth of welcome was amazing, nothing was too much trouble for Frank and Julie, and the rooms were delightfully furnished. It is a true 'home from home', yet very professionally run.
Given the chance, we would love to return !

Beautiful inn. Would recommend the Sage Suite, which is very modern (jacuzzi bathtub, gas fireplace, private porch) in a vintage setting. Breakfast was delicious! I was travelling alone, and Frank & Julie made me feel very comfortable and welcome. Thanks!
