I have been to The Equinox three times and this past experience was the best so far. It started at check-in with an exceptional greeting from Stephanee. This was the first time I was using a Living Social Deal at a hotel and she made the process quite easy. She was very friendly and went above and beyond to be sure we didn't have to check-in a second time or change rooms, my mother also had a Living Social certificate for our second night. Even though it rained everyday we were at the resort, it was still beautiful - either sitting by the fire reading a book or walking the beautifully landscaped grounds. Next time, I hope to take my mother in the warmer months when we can utilize the outdoor restaurant and firepit. The property is gorgeous (love the spa) and it is a mother/daughter getaway my mother and I look forward to each year.

This hotel is one of the nicest hotels in Vermont. It has it all! The classic New England style and old world history. Golf, tennis, hiking, shooting, spa ++ . I am a repeat customer there, because I have a son who goes to school in the neighborhood, but unfortunately, they don't treat me as such. I don't know how many many times I've have stayed there over the last two years, but it must be 10-15 times. Still, they greet me if I've never been there before! "Hello! I was here last weekend"! Well, it's a nice hotel. A little tired, but still old world charm and elegance. But, I always wondered what the service guys in the restaurant are doing when I'm desperately looking for my coffee. Where are they? You never see them by your table - even when there are no guests there. Do they hang out in the kitchen trying to hide from the guests? Why do I always have to ask one of the cleaning guys to get my coffee??

Work trip with a group of 17 people. Rooms were spacious but temperature was unpredictable. Our group had 9 rooms total - half were cool and half were hot. Breakfast buffet / menu were excellent. Apple cider donuts are a special treat during this time of year. Had numerous lunches / snacks in the Marsh Tavern. Service was good and the Equinox Ale became a fast favorite of our group. We spent most nights out at the fire pit even though the weather was cool, overcast and sometimes rainy. Most of those in our group used the spa and many commented it was the "best massage they ever had". Golf course beautiful (it rained the day we played so only got in 13 holes). Janelle and her staff in the Event planning area did a great job of juggling our group and 4 weddings over a rainy 4-day period. Location was convenient - we walked all over.

Great hotel and location in the city. The rooms are good, but I would like them to be a bit more like they used to be, not as modern. The hotel has a lot to offer. Everything is within walking distance. Great place year around.

Room Tip: See if you can get an original room

We had an outstanding 4 day trip to the Equinox in September 2012. The facilities are really charming, and the rooms are very comfortable. Really enjoyed the way they managed to make such a big property seem quaint. Keeping a lot of the historic charm there is plenty to please those that want to be pampered too. The gym is great, spa facilties are very nice (but not 5 star worthy), good bars, and lots of outdoor activities such as tennis and hiking trails for all ages.

We stayed two nights in a nice room and then the next two in the Charles Orvis Inn which is a restored 19th century residence adjacent to the Equinox... it was great with a full kitchen, great views, and private feel.

Room Tip: If you stay in the main building - ask for a view or you may get a "garden" window which b...

My wife and I went away for a weekend and chose to stay here because of Fall Leaf Peeping and because we could use our SPG points to stay here. While the staff is very nice, this is not an inexpensive place to stay. We honestly did not take advantage of many of the services but at check-in it would have been nice if the vallets moved the cars so we could at least park to check-in. But that didn't happen, so we parked our car in back, found our way in and checked in. While our room was nicely appointed, it was near the lobby area as well as stairs to the upper floors, making it very noisy. There was a dog in the room above us that whined or barked when the owners left the room. Whether paying with cash or points, for the amount they charge those should not be issues. The on property restaraunts and bars were very expensive. An example would be a glass of wine for $19.50 when the whole bottle can be purchased for about 25. Maybe I seem cheap, but reasonable is where I prefer to be. Oh, and don't forget there is a $25 daily charge for resort services. The explaination; services that most other hotels charge seperately for such as free coffee and paper, use of spa, shuttle services to area attractions... While it was nice, not sure it's worth the price.

Room Tip: Probably upper floors as far from the lobby as possible.

We had a wonderful trip to Southern Vermont in late August. The Equinox hotel rooms were nice and the resort was very comfortable for the whole family. Spa for Mom and Grandmother. Golf for Dad and Grandfather. Kids did the falconry course and archery course plus indoor swimming pool. We all went on the Land Rover driving school which was great fun. The hiking trails begin right at the Equinox resort which is very convenient. Make sure you take the drive to the top of Skyline Drive - really nice views of Southern Vermont. Also go to the General Stores in the area, like Vermont Country Store and there are always the outlets in Manchester. We went to Dorset to the old marble quarry which is now a swimming hole - the kids had a great time! Also in Dorset on Sundays is the farmer's market which has wonderful food! We had a fabulous meal in Manchester at Silver Spoon - outstanding! Another night we ate at the Steak restaurant at the Equinox - good but not great. Very fun summer or fall vacation spot for the whole family.
