We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I had prepaid for one night. When we arrived, I requested a preview of my room before paying for the rest of the stay. The desk clerk refused to show me my room and also refused to refund the first night! Therefore, we had to stay or we'd lose $119 for the night. He then said he'd give us a "special" room (I couldn't preview the accomodations but he upgraded my room after I paid!). There was also very noticeable alcohol on his breath. Our room was small, and on the town's primary road (a bit noisy), but otherwise okay. We thought we could get through the stay if we avoided interactions with the hotel staff. Suddenly, however, the TV did not work on the second night. We knocked on the locked reception door at around 10PM to see if they could fix or replace the TV. The same clerk came to the door and appeared angry at having been disturbed and said he'd take care of it and slammed the door.
Ludlow is a lovely town with terrific townspeople. I'd encourage others to stay in Ludlow but at a different hotel until the management of the Colonial changes.
