“Rabbitt Hill Inn, a place to unwind and enjoy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

The room was very nice, the food exceptional. The chef, sous chef and pastry chef are a formidable team, using locally sourced provisions for much of their menus. The Point Judith squid was lightly breaded and fried, the roast lamb flavorful and tender. Be bold and try the specials and you'll be rewarded--the restaurant is surprisingly creative for its size. Even breakfast shows care--the pastries and fruit are garnished with blossoms, the scalloped potato side creamy, not oily.
The innkeepers understand hospitality and make you feel welcome and relaxed upon arrival. Even the perennials on the grounds show attention to detail.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Carriage Corner room. With a gas fireplace, comfortable seating, a double contempo...

What a wonderful inn! We have been going to Vermont for close to 40 years, and we had heard about the Rabbit Hill Inn many times. Always wanted to visit, and it finally happened! The room we had was beautiful, with attention to every detail. The food was incredible. One of our hobbies is visiting gourmet restaurants, and this one ranks with the very best. But perhaps best of all was the unpretentious friendliness of the owners and the staff. We felt so at home!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Sterling Room

Last weekend, we spent our 20th wedding anniversary at the RHI, and it was without a doubt, the most romantic B & B we've ever stayed at. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail, and it exceeded all of our expectations.

We enjoyed a delicious champagne picnic by some beautiful waterfalls, that they recommended. We didn't need to bring a thing. Everything was included and thought of. The breakfasts were out of this world and the rooms were pristine and comfortable.

We stayed in the "Sterling Room", which was really elegant and sophisticated. I loved coming in after dinner and having the candles already lit and soft jazz playing. (I ended up downloading a CD they had there, when I returned home, I liked the music so much.)

Brian, Leslie, Don and the entire staff were extremely friendly and helpful with whatever we needed. I can't imagine staying anywhere else than this peaceful, warm and inviting inn. It is the perfect place to relax, unwind and reconnect with the one you love.

My husband and I visited Rabbit Hill Inn for our anniversary. We usually do city/europe type trips so we weren't sure how we would manage with a few days of just relaxing. Also we are in our early 30's so we were also worried we may feel out of place.

All our worries were silly - this place was amazing!!!

Service/Atmosphere

We were greeted very nicely, given a tour of the place, took our bags up etc.

Our hosts and the staff were amazing. They made us feel very comfortable and were very engaging.

The place is super comfortable, its quiet but not stuffy, guests were there of all ages. We never felt pressured to do anything in particular, we felt like we could hang out in the common areas for as long as we wanted.

The nicest surprise - not sure if its standard or in the package we got... but it was the turn down service - very nice touch!!! the candles, fireplace etc - really set the mood.

Room

We had a luxury room so we got the top floor, our own balcony and big soaker tub and a good few of the backside of the Inn. You definitely feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, away from it all!

We stayed in the Nest room which was in the main house and I would say it has a better layout and nicer than the other luxury room.

So for those of you who typically are accustomed to 'hotels'..... this is not a hotel... this is a super charming place... but it's a room in a huge house/mansion from the 1800s... so ya, the floors creak, the faucets are aged etc... but the place is super clean, super charming, very nicely decorated and super comfortable.

Activities

There is no tv - which we knew... but there is a good cd player with decent speakers so we brought our laptop and connected it to the alarm clock and played music all weekend. We also brought a dvd to watch a movie at night.

The surprising part was how addictive the puzzles were. We finished one - it took all weekend... these are not your usual puzzles... they are full of tricks, unusual puzzle shapes etc - very challenging but engaging.

We got a massage - I enjoyed it thoroughly but do wish it could have been a couples massage so my husband could have enjoyed it too.

Our hosts were amazing and offered lost of tips and guidance on what there is to do around the area.

Food:

The breakfast are the most amazing breakfasts ever. My husband and I still talk about it!!

We also loved the afternoon snacks/tea/juice - it was a welcome touch after a day of hiking and driving around.

We had dinner at the restaurant one night - it was very good... how do you go wrong with home made pasta, cheese, dessert, wine. I like how it was all made in house.

Overall we loved this place. It was our first experience at this type of place and ended up being very memorable and relaxing.

The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 were because of the following reasons
- the place is very remote so our phones didn’t work… in this type of situation, it would be good to have affordable long distance or something in case of emergencies
- WIFI was available in the common areas but I wish it was available in the rooms. This way we could skype with family, surf the net as we please, etc… yes we are there to get away from it all but no wifi in the rooms was tough
- There were tons of sweets at the breakfast and the afternoon snacks but for those who don’t have a huge sweet tooth (me), some savory snacks would have been appreciated

Overall though, we loved this place and look forward to going back next year!

Loved it, loved it, loved it! We stayed in the Carriage House and have no desire to check out any other rooms. The shower experience was unbelievable as well as the pencil post king size bed and the gas fireplace. It was so relaxing and the tea time along with their amazing Stave jigsaw puzzles made it difficult to get back to the room. Oh, and the food, I could eat 3 meals a day there for the rest of my life. Their attention to detail is above and beyond what anyone would do. Just sitting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds with a drink in hand with great company was enough for me. You could hear the river from across the street which added to the wonderful atmosphere. We will be going back real soon.

Room Tip: All the rooms are wonderful!

This inn is absolutely gorgeous. The innkeepers are so friendly and helpful. While there is a closet that provides information on absolutely everything you could want, you can't beat the personal touch of being able to ask someone about how long it takes to get somewhere. They innkeepers were attending a conference one of the days we were there, and told us the night before that they'd be gone. How nice! Don, their back up innkeeper, was absolutely fantastic. He made suggestions for us in the morning of places near where we were going, and the info he provided came in very handy. The ambiance, service and charm of the entire place was the highlight of our trip to New England. Highly recommended!

We love Rabbit Hill.We have been going there for many years. We started going before the current innkeepers and we were smitten, and things have only gotten better after they took over completely. Can't wait to go back. Lots of fond memories for us!
