We stayed at Gifford Woods state park between July 31st and August 6th. We camped in Elm which is a prime Lean-to. The park was clean and very secluded. The bathrooms were clean as well. There are two sets of bathroom/showers. I have to say the showers in the lower loop are the best. They are newer. The park is very pet friendly as well. We brought our two dogs with us and joked that it must be dog week as every tent/lean-to site that was being used had 1-2 dogs. The park employees are very helpful and kind. They are also very prompt when a complaint is made. There are some really cool things to do around the park while you are there. We took a Gondola ride at Killington (the dogs were not allowed so we went in shifts) the price was 10.00 each (13.00 each unless you buy 4 or more tickets) for a roundtrip. Well worth it. We found that during the summer season not much is open in Killington. We had to travel to Rutland which is not far away. Kent pond is also awesome. If you follow the trail that takes you to the waterfall you can continue on that trail along the pond. The only issue we had was people walking with their dogs off leash. (Not sure of the leash law in Vermont). It was very interesting meeting all the hikers that stop at the park to rest. All in all I have to say it was a very pleasant stay in Gifford Woods.
