It is a creaky wood building with basic rooms, real keys and friendly people. It is comfortable and the breakfasts are great, you can pretty much order what you want. Dinner is not great and overpriced. There are friendly dogs around, but no dog smells and whatnot. The outdoor pool is nice and the hot tub, although small, does the trick. One funny thing, is that to get to the hot tub/pool, you have to walk by the entrance and lounge area attached to the restaurant/bar. At happy hour, it can be crowded as you walk by in your towel. The walls seem thin, but I had no noise problems and I am a light sleeper. It cannot compare to a resort hotel, but I just like it and look forward to going back.

Pros:
- Very close to the mountain and walking distance to a few restaurants and bars.
- Excellent breakfast in the morning.
- Wonderful and talented bartenders and good food.
- Really polite staff.
- Courteous fellow travelers.
- Wonderful check-in experience.
- No dogs barking or allergies bothering me, which I was concerned about from other posts.

Cons:
- A little overpriced for what you get. The rooms are pretty tiny, no shampoo in the showers, only give you a single towel and everything is pretty old. It kind of felt more like a college dorm than a hotel.
- The pool turned my bathing suit green from the amount of chemicals inside.
- DO NOT depend on the shuttle to the mountain. I easily lost about 90 minutes in skiing time due to waiting for this guy. It's very disappointing considering how close they are to the mountain and the shuttle could have made several runs in the time we waited.

Like I said, perfect place if you know what to expect and your main priority is to bunk at someplace close to the mountain that you can use to rest and fuel up after skiing and happy hour. But do not be expecting the Ritz.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a fridge and newer TVs. My friends got stuck with a room with an old TV and no fri...

My husband and I stayed here for New Years 2011. We got a room for us and our mini Austrailian Shepherd and our friends got a room across the hall. They're very accommodating, walk your dog 2 times a day for you. You get breakfast of your choice made for you...the rooms were decent, but the walls are a bit thin...we cod actually hear someone fart in another room...but other than sleeping no big deal...there were mini fridges in the room a large backyard great for ball playing w/the dogs and you can have breakfast or dinner in the lounge by the fireplace w/your dog....awesome place w/a dog and we'll definitely be back...And the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful!!!

We stayed at Chalet Killington at the start of the ski season. We went out for our first day of skiing and came back to the parking lot to find out we had a flat tire on a Friday night and a 6 hour drive to get home Sunday. The owner saved us with a phone call, got our tire picked up and replaced the next day, making it so we didn't have to stress or miss any ski time.

The Chalet is clean, very pet friendly and an excellent example of the ski community. The restaurant at the Chalet is great, try the Chicken Burrito. The atmosphere is lots of fun, in the heated pool. hot tub, at the big fireplace, or the restaurant.

Breakfast was hearty and all the basics are on the menu. Want something custom, just ask, like a side of bacon, no problem. Location is great, seconds to the mountain and a free shuttle is available, which we took while our car was out of service.

We'll be back for another great trip.

Chalet Killington:
We started our stay driving up the access road to Killington. We mistakenly drove by the Chalet Killington as we only noticed the sign for Baja Burrito (the co-located on-site restaurant). We decided to see how close we were to the mtn and were pleasantly surprised to find it was only 1.2 miles door to door.
We turned around, parked, and began check-in. When you walk in, you're immediately struck by the homey-ness of the place (think rustic and comforting). Large sunken living room with fireplace for evening socializing...staff members' dogs happily greeting you. We got our keys and walked up to the 2nd floor (no elevator, only stairs). The room was adequate. One double and one twin bed, mini fridge, tv. The windows were operational (we love to sleep with them cracked).
Breakfast each day is included and served at the on site restaurant. They take your order like a restaurant (eggs, pancakes, fresh toast, potatoes, bacon, sausage, bagels, etc) served 7-9am. We took a morning yoga class each day from 7-8am and they were kind enough to accommodate us (took our order the night before and had breakfast hot and waiting at 6:30am).
After skiing all day, we would come back, shower, then head down to the indoor hot tub to soak our tired muscles. (for the more adventurous, there is an outdoor heated swimming pool that stayed about 91 degrees and also an indoor sauna). Then we'd get ready for dinner. We went out a few times and ate at the on site twice (killer margaritas, edible Tex-Mex food. Drinks way better than the food). The service though was fun and the setting encouraged a community/family atmosphere. Seating for the restaurant continues into the living room of the Chalet which provides a great setting.
We were with a large group and often took over the living room each night. We brought down beer, wine, and mixed drinks and plugged our iPad into their speaker system for tunes.  Anyone who ran dry just went and ordered a drink from the bar and drank it in the living room.
Kids and dogs are welcomed. Dog treats always in a dish at the counter. We heard that if you bring your dog they will actually walk it for you during the day (we didn't bring one though). Everyone who had a dog brought it down to socialize too.
In short:
If you expect a 5-star hotel suite with matching food, you'll be disappointed. If you want a comfortable, cheaper priced place that's convenient for all your needs...this place can't be beat!
