“Not for the money we paid...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2008

This is not a great hotel for the money. The rooms are small, but clean. We paid $179/night for a king bed room with a tiny bathroom (see pics). The rooms are very dated, and the bathroom shower had been redone by slapping a fake tile board on top of the old tile, making the shower very narrow. This hotel is by no means walkable to the ski slope (300 yards is to the beginning of the parking lot), but there is a free shuttle every 20 minutes which was fine. The hotel restaurant was decent for dinner. For your continental breakfast (included) you get cereal, small bagels and waffles for toasting, some fruit salad, and coffee and tea. This was fine for us, but not exactly luxurious. The TV was tiny, the fridge was large but very loud which made sleeping difficult, and there are no closets, just a small wardrobe. This an extremely noisy hotel, with loud doors banging all the time, and kids running around. Seemed like a great place for people with families though, but forget it for light sleepers. Expected much more for the $$$.

Our room had a view of the mountain, which was beautiful! The hotel is very quaint and the location was perfect.

Stayed at this Inn once before but recieved such poor service this time that we will never go back. The rooms are small and generally clean and the location of the Inn is good for skiing. That's as good as it gets. The bar service was slow and the staff among the rudiest we've encountered.
Last time we came the lounge was packed because of a fantastic band. Now they have a piano player that butchers the classics. The bar was half full(on a saturday night) and this place is small. We do not recommend this place but if you go, bring your own breakfast because theirs is lousy.
At night, avoid their bar or bring some ear plugs and yell to get your drink. Better yet, bring your own liquor and CD's and chill out in your room. Let the classics remain classics

This was the perfect place for us! We are 30yo travelers with no children who loved this place. The only downfall was no elevator, which didnt bother me...."Athletes stay here". The shuttle comes quick and the bar downstairs was a perfect meeting place (and the bartender was the coolest woman in Vermont)!
This was the perfect place to stay at in Killington!
If u need a lavish hotel, why arent you going to Aspen?? Otherwise, when in Rome.....

The only good thing about this hotel is its location close to the slopes.

The bar/restaurant is a separate business to the hotel but they share the same building. This is where you eat breakfast which is very poor with limited choice. The restaurant in the evening is called the Santa Fe Steakhouse, do not eat here. The steaks (you would think these would be a safe bet) and the vegetables were cold, they all went back and came out again having all been tossed in a frying pan, vegetables included. Steaks came out tough and cold.

Bar in the evening closes when they want and often at 9pm if not busy so if you want a drink in the hotel of an evening this will be a problem for you.

The pool is disgusting and a breading pool for bacteria. We were told it was end of season what ever that meant.

Staff unsympathetic to any problems they are on low wage which they tell you that all the time as a reason why they don't care.

Water was not available on last day but this might not be common place but no toilets flushed, no washing and not enough bottled water to go around.

Rooms OK, basic but clean. Bed not made on one day and sink in room not bathroom (bit odd).

I have never filled in a feedback form but I wanted to warn people of this place. Killington is nice though but avoid the Mountain Inn.

We received a warm welcome and staff were always very helpful and friendly. The room was cosy but fairly basic. It was clean upon arrival but daily maid service was fairly limited. The beds were rather small and we were often disturbed during the night by noise from the corridor, people upstairs and people leaving the bar/restaurant. A big disappointment was the lack of hot water in the late afternoon and evening. We often returned from skiing looking forward to soaking in a hot bath and had to make do with a quick luke-warm shower. We were also disappointed by the lack of tea/ coffee making facilities in the room which are standard in even fairly basic British Hotels.
It was conveniently located for the main snowshed lift with a free shuttle bus service every 15-20 mins. Ski/snowboard storage facilities were OK but boots and poles had to be taken to the room.
Santa Fe steakhouse restaurant attached to the hotel was pretty good but had no vegetarian main courses on an otherwise interesting menu.

Bit of a late review but just found this site, so apologies if it has changed.

My wife, 3 yr old daughter and I stayed here March 2004 for 10 days. Coming from the England/Europe we are used to poor hotels and poor service and unfortunately The Mountain Inn was much more like a typical UK hotel than our previous experiences of US hotels.

The room was OK, but not great, bathroom/shower etc was basic. The reception staff seemed to be young students doing holiday work and had little training if any in how to deal with guests. The bar was busy in the evenings and was too small and understaffed to cope.

The worst bit was the food, breakfast was the worst I have ever had in the US, very basic cereal, toast, muffins was included, (all help your self) if you paid extra for cooked breakfast you got what they had, which would be eggs and bacon, or eggs and sausage, or bacon and fired potato, etc. never any choice and small portions.

We ate in the ‘fine dining’ restaurant one night and to be fair they had tried, but my pepper steak had so much back pepper on it was inedible.

We ski at least once every year and have skied, Killington, Mammoth Mountain, and Banff/Lake Louise as well as Europe in the past 5 years, if we do return to Killington it will not be to the Mountain Inn.
