“Prepare to be judged....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

The Trailside was recommended to us via long time friends that were getting married in the area. Upon checking in we were told that our "room was not a private room, and the empty beds could be rented out at anytime."There is also a crudely framed note in the room explaining that if any extra towels or beds are used there will be a $50.00 charge for each one. Was allowed to check in early which was nice, but got a knock on the door 15 minutes later asking us to keep it down. At 2:00 in the afternoon....
Shower room was smaller then a Porta-john, Toilet and wall behind it was disgusting, No tv's, No fridges, and forget the continental breakfast....Old bagels and watery coffee.
I understand that I have a head full of drealocks and a few tattoos, but the women behind desk acted as though my group and I might burn the place down, or even worse....use the spare pillows. Next time I think I'll forget about supporting the local businesses and go to Motel 6....unfortunate.

Room Tip: The bunk rooms were actually convenient us as a large group. But don't use the spare towels!!

Angela - thank you so much for taking the time to review our property. As new owners/innkeepers to Trailside, it is certainly disappointing to read of your experience. We pride ourselves on being very welcoming and would hope that you would reconsider visiting us again in the future. We've made lots of positive changes and would love it if you gave our local business a 2nd chance.

We took a high school group here for a long weekend of skiing at Killington. I had the chance to see the place both as a group leader and also as a 'grownup' scouting out future stays for myself and my family. This place fits the bill for both.
The bunk rooms where the kids stayed are clean, freshly redone, and stylish if somewhat spartan. They are ideal for groups interested in a place to sleep between skiing and enjoying the Killington Access Road. There is a game room downstairs with pool table, shuffleboard, foosball and a card table. Where's the TV??? Big-time suggestion for the owners! Put in a flatscreen!

Upstairs, we stayed in the Farmhouse section. Beautiful, classic Vermont furnishings, wide-plank pine floors, very comfortable beds and lots of room. This is where you would stay as an adult traveler, maybe 2 or 3 couples to rent the entire space. There is a full kitchen and a very comfortable and tastefully decorated living room... with a TV! Great space, great accommodations.

There are other hotel rooms here but I didn't see them so can't comment.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Note: no kitchen on premises, limited Continental breakfast but all other food/drink needs to be brought in.

Thank you for the review and feedback. We are new owners to Trailside and are planning to further develop the game room over the next season.

Spent 3 nights with my two daughters. Service was outstanding; above and beyond the call of duty. Trailside Inn is a nice cross between a rustic lodge and a quaint New England Inn. When you first step in the lodge you look into the main room with its wood walls and columns, large stone fireplace, seating area around the fireplace, large wooden tables, and rustic decor. It's a great room to hang out in; perfect to relax in front of the fireplace or play one of numerous games after a day of skiing. There's also a large game room downstairs with shuffleboard, pool, foosball and other games. There are private rooms and a number of bunkrooms, most if not all with private baths. The rooms may be a little spartan, but this is not the place for one to hang out in the room. Go visit Killington a few minutes away, or take a hike in the Geen Mountains. There's plenty to do; go enjoy the outdoors and come back to a comfortable and memorable place to relax.

Room Tip: Consider a bunk room if you're a group of ski-buddies, private room for families.

Our family of 5 spent 2 comfortable nights here, skiing at the nearby Killington resort, and received a warm welcome from Sheila. The rooms were comfortable, bathrooms clean, and the common areas are attractively decorated. In addition to the main room, which has breakfast tables, a fire place, TV and comfy chairs and sofas, there is also a well-equipped games room in the basement. When the local snow ploughs failed to clear the roads, making access to the slopes impossible for a regular vehicle, staff were able to recommend a reasonable shuttle service ("Gramps").
Breakfast was adequate but certainly nothing special. On our second morning a group of early risers seemed to have demolished the buffet, leaving even less choice for the 8.30 sitting. Hopefully the staff will be aware of this now and not put everything out at the start of breakfast knowing more guests are yet to come!
The nearest restaurants for an evening meal are located on Killington Road, which is the access road for the Killington Ski Area. At least one pizzeria on this road also delivers to the inn.
We were overall pretty satisfied.

We always head up to Killington with a group of 4-6 guys. There is nothing worse then having to sleep in a bed with another guy (like a typical 2 bed hotel room). We found this lodge that had dorm style rooms with bunks for 5-6 guys and said lets try it. It is much better to get drunk and pass out in your own single bed after a hard day of shredding then to pass out in a bed with another stinky friend. The lodge is nice, the people are nice, the rooms are nothing crazy, but then again if you are shredding all day then just need a place to drink then pass out it works. We were a bit loud at night only till 11 and no one gave us any lip about it. We had a little issue with a leaky roof, but the staff was very accommodating. We will stay there on our next trip. If you are going snowboarding with a bunch of friends, this beats the traditional hotel room any day of the week!!

Room Tip: The Dorm style rooms work for groups that are going snowboarding or skiing.

no airconditioning, no tv in rooms, no cell phone service; no icemachine; no shades on windows to keep sun out...may be good for sking but not for attending a wedding. The hostess was very nice. just one degree above camping for $188.00 per night...are they kidding!!!

Room Tip: no fitness center

This review is from before our renovation was fully complete. Over the past 2 years, we have installed air conditioning, cell phone boosters and installed an ice machine. Please come back and try us again.
