We have stayed at Mountain Meadow Lodge a number of times over the last 2 years and each experience has been better than the last. The property is beautiful and well kept. It is on a lake with beautiful views of the Green Mountains. There is a pool, a hot tub, a sauna and many other amenities including a wonderful fireplace in the Great Room, another in the dining room and a warm and welcoming wood burning stove in the lobby.
The food is wonderful and is prepared by the Innkeeper with occasional help from a small staff. While dinner is not offered every night it is posted in the lobby on the nights it is offered. The menu varies and if you wish to participate you simply notify the office. Continental Breakfast is offered every day but on weekends there is a great Breakfast Buffet. Menus are available on their web site.
There are several buildings on the property. A farmhouse where the owner's family lives but there are several guest rooms available at the back of the house. There is a Lodge that contains the office, a Great Room, a TV room, the Dining Room, a Lounge, a Game Room and the Sauna - all on the first floor. The other 2 floors are guest rooms. All of the rooms have their own bathrooms. The other building on the property that is great is the barn - which brings us to my personal favorite thing about this Lodge. Alice the potbellied pig. She is one of the many animal residents of the Lodge and you really have to meet her. She is a character.
All in all it is a place we keep going back to for it's beauty, cleanliness, charm and warmth. You feel like one of the family.

We had a family reunion/birthday party here in June 2008. The place worked out fantastically. The food Bill made was great, he worked extensively with us to get the menu we wanted for our group. He and his staff were very hospitable. The facilities worked out fine, nice rooms and common areas. Lake was nice. Pool was nice but too cold when we went in June. Outdoor spa was very nice. We had a nice hike in the area. I would say it is family oriented, with pool table/ping pong and many games that you can use (board games as well as outdoor games) and there is a canoe and kayaks for use on the lake. The animals do roam around outside, so I would say it is a little on the rustic side - do not expect a resort atmosphere. But if you want something homey, friendly and not plastic like a chain mega-motel, this place is great!

We got married at the MML five years ago and just hosted a weekend reunion there for 40 of our closest family and friends. What a perfect spot for families! Everyone has a blast enjoying the many facilities including the farm animals, ping pong, canoes, hiking trails, and much more.

The staff was so accommodating taking care of everything from special orders for kids meals to arranging for babysitting.

Smores by the campfire, great breakfast buffets and as the host I didn't lift a finger! We're definitely going back.

Bill and Anne, the proprietors, saw to it our event was perfect!

  • Liked — At Mountain Meadows you never have to get in your car and leave the property. There is so much to do!
  • Disliked — The only thing we didn't like about our visit was having to leave!

I booked this lodge for a last minute 'leaf peeping' trip. The pros: The grounds are beautiful. The animals are very friendly (they know the humans give them food!). And the lodge does feel quite remote even though it's very close to the Killington ski area. It is definetely a family oriented lodge. There was a game room with 2 video games, a pool table, ping pong table, and fooseball table. You can access the lake and hiking trails right on the grounds. The staff was terrific and gave suggestions on restaurants in the area and called for reservations for us. They also offered us breakfast to go since we were leaving very early. I would definetely bring my children back someday.

The Cons: Since we're newlyweds I thought that a jacuzzi and fireplace would be a nice romantic touch. Do not book the fireplace/jacuzzi suite if that is your intention! I'm pretty sure the jacuzzi is the first ever invented. It barely fits two adults. My husband could not stretch his legs out and have his shoulders in the tub at the same time. I didn't actually verify, but I believe that lodge is on well/lake water. The water had quite an earthy smell. I never did taste it. We could never figure out how to work the retro fit propane fireplace. The room is clearly designed for families with two couches with pullout twin beds. Which is nice except for the fact that sitting on the couches is very uncomfortable because they are so short. We couldn't sit comfortably together on the couch so we finally used our laptop to watch a DVD in bed. The lodge is old and the floors squeek. I actually woke up in the middle of the night because the people in the room above us were walking around. If you are a light sleeper you need to bring earplugs! The lodge is very much a Vermont lodge. Everything is made of wood or wood paneled and all of the rooms are decorated with multiple floral designs. If this if what you love, you will love the lodge! It just wasn't really what I was looking for right now.

After traveling to Vermont several times a year my wife and I found the Mountains Meadows Lodge. We choose this Lodge to have our wedding, and stay here when ever in the area. The lodge is a bit rustic, and fits for the Vermont county side. Rooms are simple, comfortable and everything is slow paced. The scenery, location and farm feel is why people stay here. There are many this to do. The Lodge has several animals that roam the property. It is right on the Lake for fishing or a canoe ride. Its only 5 minutes from Killington ski-golf area. The App. Trail runs right through the property. Breakfast and dinner are home made by the owners. It a quaint feel when you stay here if your looking for the simple life.
