“1st Time in Vermont”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2011

I stayed 2 nights at the North Star Lodge on a Travelzoo deal and absolutely loved it. The staff was great, the lodge was nice and clean. No complaints whatsoever. There is a great bbq restaurant about 4 miles up 4west but I can't remember the name...I will definitely come back

I spent a week here on a timeshare exchange so had a one bedroom suite. It has been recently updated, but some choices were not well thought out and though the staff was very helpful and cheerful, there are some design flaws. I was on my own for half the trip, with a friend staying 2 1/2 days. Two people are as many as I could consider in the suite as the living room/kitchen area is quite small. There is one armchair and a sofa/hideabed. You had to rearrange the furniture in order to set up the bed and the only eating area was a bar/island with 4 stools. You had to shift the stools around in order to get around the island to the door or the bathroom. It would be quite awkward with 4 adults or a family with teens. They made a bad choice of living room carpet. Textured beige which was not well secured at the join to the kitchen floating floor and the beige shows all the red wine or coffee stains so looks pretty grubby. Something darker and less structured would have been better; though it would have added to the already dark feel of the room. The balcony was a nice concept, but it had tall solid walls and no chairs were available. We had folding chairs, but you couldn't see any of the views. There had been a leak from the room above and there was a very badly patched section of ceiling about 3 x 5 feet - Ugly. However, the furnishings were comfortable, clean (other than the carpet) and the kitchen efficient and adequate. The jacuzzi tub would be great during ski season.

So the staff was great, and the location central for that area of Vermont, but the little details could be improved upon.

What a great getaway! Quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Room was well maintained, large and bright. Pool, sauna and large change and washroom facilities was perfect as we checked in early and spent the pm around the pool. Beatiful grounds with resident ducks and pond. Walking distance to a few restaurants. The best part was the staff
Becky, Joe and Dean went out of their way to provide dvd-vcr and above and beyond
great customer service with a can do attitude and friendliness!!! The only items I would have appreciated would be a fridge and microwave in the room, but I believe they are coming. Very clean, wonderful sheets ,pillows and lots of towels. Cant wait till next summer!!!

Spent 2 nights with a Travelzoo special. Great location and staff, only complaints are that the airconditioner was so high up we could reach it and the door knob fell off.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable with the new beds.
Very modest amenities-just soap and shampoo/cond. combo.
All in all, I would return.

Subject: North Star Lodge
Location: Killington, Vermont, United States, North America
Title: Wonderful location for exploring Vermont
ID#: 115872045

We went to Killington in the middle of summer, which is definitely NOT at the height of tourist season. And that's why we went in July. North Star Lodge was an RCI exchange after an April trip to the UK fell through. North Star turned out to be a wonderful exchange surprise! My husband had always wanted to see New England, but wasn't interested in going for the autumn colors or ski season. He wanted to see what the area was like without hoards of tourists, and in mid-July we often felt like the only people in the whole state as we toured. No gaudy tourist attractions full of t-shirts, no amusement parks, no swarms of tourists with cameras, no billboards, and very few big box stores. Just genuinely friendly people, pristine forests, great hiking, challenging golf, and delicious restaurants.

The North Star Lodge offered a pleasantly appointed room overlooking a pond and the mountains. A kitchen to make our own meals, and a large whirlpool tub for relaxing at the end of a long hike were nice features. The staff was very pleasant and happy to provide directions or recommendations for sightseeing and meals. The North Star Lodge is conveniently located for almost anything you'd like to see in Vermont.

Very nice place to visit. It was the off season so many shops were closed but the hotel was clean friendly and had coffee and assorted teas in the lobby all day. Very nice. Beautiful pool. The saunas are a hidden gem in the bathrooms by the pool area. The front desk is very helpful. Rooms are clean and spacious. Only downside I can see is that we were on the 4th floor and had to take small amout of stairs to our room, which is not a big deal but some people may nave a problem with this. we did not. We are not skiers but do plan on going back during the peak season as it is lovely and very scenic.

Stopped just the one night whilst on a flydrive and as a result of the reviews. My mistake, I should have seen that in early May they are between seasons and as such I think we were the only guests.
I'm sure it comes into it's own during the busy seasons but I did wonder whether it was worth their while staying open. Very, very quiet!
