We've been to The Tavern on Friday evenings, often enough to qualify for my 'at least three times' rule. Through frequent meetings at the resort, I've piled up more. I must say that my expectation for a place climbs in parallel with what they charge. For pub food plus a culinary resort location plus an average of $70 for an appetizer, 2 or 3 drinks and two entrees, it should be a slam dunk each time. And...it is not. The place is busy on many nights, for sure. But we have found the food to be great at times and indifferent to wretched at others. It's frustrating because we want to love the place. My meal last night consisted of a mild crab dip (great bread but a little too bland for my taste) and a forgettable fish and chip entry. The coleslaw was just plain off, the fries a miss and the tarter sauce mostly mayo. Frustrating. We will try again but fingers crossed they can get back on the rails with consistency.

Thank you very much for your online comments. It is very important for us to get feedback in order to create an enjoyable experience for all of our guests. I was happy to here that you dine with us frequently. We have two great restaurants on property lead by very professional and creative Chefs. I am frustrated at our lack of consistency during your visits. There is no excuse for one of our most popular dishes on the menu, the Fish and Chips, not to come out cooked to perfection. Please know that I have taken your comments to our executive Chef. He is working diligently with his culinary team to continuously train and improve daily.
We pride ourselves here at The Essex on providing our guests with an excellent culinary experience and we regretfully fell short on that during your some of your dining experiences. We can only strengthen our customer service and culinary offerings with comments such as yours. Again, I apologize and hope that you return to visit us again.
