“Fabulous Time--Wonderful hosts, Special Breakfast, and a Lovely Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

Wonderful time. Roger and Gaye booked us into local events, carted us around, and gave us wonderful suggestions about everything. A very people and a lovely place.

Room Tip: All three are excellent.

As we drove down the quiet, country road, we passed one beautiful estate after another, each having that special Vermont charm. Soon our GPS navigation system told us that we were approaching our destination. The quaint sign by the road lit by an old fashion lamp read The Squire House. We have arrived. The beautiful home is set far back from the road with big Vermont mountains behind it. It was our second time here, and it felt so good to be back. The house is simply charming. Every last detail has been thought of. The downstairs has three very large sitting rooms. The first room has a television, cozy couches and chairs, and a working wood fireplace that is match ready with paper, kindling wood, and logs. The second room is larger with a grand piano to the right which I enjoyed playing later in our stay and big beautiful windows over looking the front yard. The third sitting room also has a working wood fireplace that is match ready. To the right is a large dining room that has a wonderful view of the back yard with its turtle rock, old trees, and bird feeders. The upstairs has three guest rooms each with its own bathroom. The two bedrooms that we have stayed in both have working wood fireplaces. Sitting in our own room, reading our books in front of the crackling fire was simply priceless. Each room upstairs and downstairs is decorated exquisitely.
The hosts, Roger and Gay, are warm, loving people. They were genuinely happy to have us stay with them. They helped us find a wonderful yoga class which they happen to attend weekly as well. And they told us about a wonderful restaurant with Turkish plates and special pizzas made on thin peta bread in an open brick oven. The helped us find beautiful walks that were very nearby. They even helped us find a place where we could buy organic seeds for our vegetable garden. They remembered that we drink tea not coffee and that we did not like food with refined sugar in it. They truly made us feel at home.
The breakfasts that they prepared for us were 5 stars all the way. They used local ingredients and prepared everything themselves. As I am writing this, my mouth is salivating as I think about all of the delightful food we ate.
I have been to many bed and breakfasts, but this one sets the standard. The location of the home, the house itself, the hosts, and the meals are simply exemplary. For the record, my wife and I have never gone back to the same place twice because we like to visit different homes and places. The Squire House is the first place we have ever gone back to a second time, and I'm already looking forward to our third time. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room with a working wood fireplace.

We chose the Squire House to celebrate our 41st anniversary. The Bed and Breakfast is incredibly beautiful and no detail, no matter how small, was over looked by our gracious host and hostess, Roger and Gaye. We have travelled B&B's for over thirty years and owned our own B&B for 15 years, and we truly think this was our most memorable and beyond perfect weekend. We have decided it's a must for our 42nd annivversary next year, but plan to go back before that. The setting in Dorest is incredible. The town is a second treasure to be enjoyed.

Our second visit and even better than the first, I now feel that Roger and Gaye are old friends. They make a stay with them like a house party with true luxury thrown in. Nothing is too much trouble and Gaye's cooking is superb. They do not serve dinner but the breakfasts are as big as a dinner and they have good recommendations for the evening. Lunch was never necessary! Roger's sense of humour makes the stay particularly entertaining and happy and he is a font of knowledge for sites to visit. If you are in Vermont it is a must. The house is truly beautiful and tastefully and elegantly furnished. Go on, spoil yourselves!

Room Tip: Any one will do.

Make sure this is the last stop on your itinerary, because nowhere else will measure up to it.
Rooms are large and beautifully furnished and there are 3 exquisite common rooms for guests. Breakfast is a delight, served on fine china with real silverware. The hosts are extremely considerate and helpful. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.

Our afternoon flight from Newark was cancelled (not a cloud in the sky, mind you) and we didn't get into BTV until 11:30 PM only to discover that the eight hour delay apparently wasn't enough time for Continental to figure out a way to get our bags on board with us. We eventual got to Dorset at 2:45 AM to be warmly greeted by Gay and Roger who not only got up in the middle of the night but put us to bed in their pajamas. Great breakfast the next morning and a wonderful suggestion for dinner that evening. Continental finally got our bags to the inn at 11:45 PM.......my wife and I were asleep so poor Gay and Roger were once again woken up in the middle of the night, this time to schlep our bags upstairs to our room. I'm glad I'm not an innkeeper! Squire House Inn is a wonderful place to stay.......a beautiful house, lovely grounds, and wonderfully patient innkeepers.

This was our second time staying in the Squire house. We loved the house, the property gardens, the delicious breakfast and the beautiful and comfortable suites. Gay an Roger, the property's owners made, as usual, our stay wonderful.
