“Our Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Our experience was terrific!!!! ;) The inn keeper and his wife were very polite and compassionate. We were traveling late at night and forgot it was leaf peeping season. Called and they were able to accomidate us. They were booked for a wedding and some of the party cancelled. So rather that charging that party for unused rooms we picked up the slack!!!! 5 Thumbs up and breakfast was GREAT too.

The Inn at Charlotte is an easy fifteen miles south of Burlington, Vermont. It is a beautiful property located in the rural town of Charlotte, VT. The property itself is gorgeous. The grounds are well maintained, and the garden is beautiful. The rooms are part of a low farmhouse, all rooms located on ground level. The owner has set very high standards for himself and then proceeded to meet them, A wonderful breakfast is served every morning at 8.30 AM. My wife and I always had an excellent time speaking to the other guests. I highly recommend this place!

Room Tip: Walk to the end of the road to Mount Philo State Park!

I have to say, the hospitality at this B&B was five star. At the communal breakfast, we sat around a large table with two families from Europe and Duker, the owner, and had the most wonderful conversation. It happened to be pouring outside, so we all lingered and chatted. A nice memory. Duker also provided us with discounted passes to area attractions, and was a font of information. We might have stayed another night if not for the rain. The room we had, the Blue Room, was a two room suite with an eat-in kitchenette, bedroom and bath. This inn is not one of those places with antiques and gazillion count eqyptian cotton sheets; it was pretty simply furnished but clean, and the mattress was comfortable. The shower is quite small, but there was plenty of hot water. The garden outside was gorgeous with a nice pool we didn't get to try owing to the rain. There was outdoor seating covered by a wooden structure and grapes growing. Altogether a memorable, if short, stay.

Had a relaxing stay here and highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the area. The owners, Duker and Josefina, are welcoming and accommodating. Breakfasts were very good and served family style around a large table, allowing guests to converse - we had some interesting discussions! The grounds are well-kept and flower-filled. There is a pool and tennis court available.
Our room (The Family room) was comfortable and a sliding glass door provides a view of the flowers and grape arbor by the pool. Mt. Philo can be seen not far away and is a short drive up the street. Also nearby are some good restaurants, Shelburne Farms/museum, Vermont Wildflower Center and other attractions.
The only thing we did not like was the shower in our room - it has some issues! Very small shower stall with too high and wide water spray makes it impossible to use without water getting out onto the floor as one twists and turns trying to soap and rinse.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return.

I need a 3.5 Rating, above Average but not quite Very Good. We love staying at B&Bs and try a couple of different ones each year. To break it down:
Great: Location was excellent, 10 minutes from Shelburne Farms, so convenient when we were done with the Cheese Festival. A short walk from Mt Philo, which was a great hike, as challenging as you wanted it to be and stunning views! Breakfast was very good, different but not so out of the norm that most people wouldn't like it, fresh and filling. A guest asked where they go their produce, we all expected to hear a local farm and he named off a local grocery store. Again, not quite what we've had in other B&Bs
Very Good: Master room was very roomy and extremely clean, and right outside the pool, which was also clean and had convenient seats under and arbor
Not so good: Walls are like paper, with rooms surrounding pool and thin walls, really felt more like a motel with a friendly breakfast than a B&B. We could hear every word of the people next door as they chatted at night, so didn't make us feel like we had any real privacy. On the other side of us was the hallway and kitchen and there was alot of banging around of doors throughout the day. Also was a little disconcerted when our bag was moved from where I had left it, and clothes that I had sorted out was all stacked on top. I recognize the cleaner has to clean but Ive never had one move all my stuff around.
First day there, relatives of owners were there with four kids in the pool for hours, teasing one of them quite a bit, to the point where I almost said something but he finally went to get his mother. Again, room is right next to pool, so very noisy in our room as they played or fought.
The room is advertised as shower only, which is correct, except that there is a bathtub, just with pieces removed. I would think that would either be fixed or removed.
Overall, nice visit, but even with great location do not feel that the cost was justified.

Room Tip: Master is large and right next to pool, but walls are very thin

My husband and I stayed at the Inn this summer and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owner of the place is a great guy. He is well traveled himself, a great host, and good company. The inn itself is surrounded by rolling green VT hills, a beautiful vineyard and right down the road from the best hike in the Burlington area...Mt. Philo. We spent a day riding bikes all over the countryside and visiting the local winery and breweries. It was a great vacation and we will be back with our kids next time. Thanks Duker!

My wife and I have come back to this wonderful little B&B five times now. The location and views are unbeatable, the rooms are well-kept but homey, and Duker and Josephina (the owners) are incredibly friendly and helpful. We'd recommend this for a relaxing vacation or as a home base to explore the area. We'll be going back soon!
