GGT Tibet Inn
I recently stayed in Burlington for 2 nights with my partner, on our recent trip around Europe & the USA. It was the end of the summer season & cooling off a little, but we were still able to visit a lot of the town & surrounding areas, & enjoyed ourselves a great deal.
We booked our accommodation via the hotel directly (we had to call from the UK, as their emails kept bouncing back as an invalid address), & confirmed a place to stay for the duration of our holiday. On our arrival (via car) we found the hotel easily & parked at the front, where there is plenty of parking (there is also plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel). The hotel is at the far end of Burlington (nowhere near the town center), but has many shops within a couple of minutes drive, including a large supermarket complex. Many fast food restaurants & other stores are also a short drive away. We were greeted very pleasantly on our arrival, but were told that the 10% discount voucher we had brought with us needed to be sorted out at a later time, as they had already charged our credit card for the full amount (despite telling them we had a voucher in advance). We were given an upstairs room (room 203) which included a fridge, microwave & our own bathroom. There was a view down to the pool & across the road, where we could see a tiny amount of Lake Champlain. The pool was green & slimy, & there was no Internet access available. A breakfast of sorts (coffee & bagels) is provided, but you need to eat outside or in your room really, as the food area is just kind of in the downstairs corridor.
The hotel itself was in fairly good shape, but still needs some work – the back car-parking area could do with an upgrade, as well as some of the driveway, & the pool area. The hotel in general (including our room) had a funny smell, as if it hadn't been aired out enough. Perhaps it was just due to the age of the complex. Our bathroom was in good condition & the shower had plenty of hot water & good pressure. There was also a bath. There is no lift, but the stairs are wide & easy to use. This hotel would suit people of all types, including older visitors or groups. Despite it's failings, it is excellent value for money & the rooms are more than satisfactory. We had trouble finding our way back to the hotel one night (being newcomers to Burlington), as they had not switched on the sign, so look carefully for the hotel & landmarks around it, to help find your way.
All in all, if you are after a cheap, clean & comfortable hotel, & have a car to access the main shopping/tourist areas, then this is the hotel for you. If we are ever back in the Burlington area then we would most likely stay here again. Thanks for a nice stay!
