I'm giving this place four stars more for the service I received and the complimentary taste of beef brisket that the friendly owner let me try. My main entree was a tad better than average which I'll get to later.
The beef brisket was outstanding. Juicy, tender, full of flavor that overwhelms your taste buds in a good way. I've had briskets and BBQ from all over the south and Midwest from place like Kansas City to Charlotte. This wasn't a dried out chewy brisket that you could get at a lesser place that is drowned in sauce. This had a nice char complimented by a smooth smoky flavor. This by far was some of the best brisket I've ever had. The only downside is that it's only served on Wednesday according. I recommended to the owner that he need to have this be a feature and regular item. You can also get a nice cool microbrew on draft to compliment your meal on warm summer day.
On the other hand, my pulled chicken sandwich wasn't the best I've had. It wasn't great and it wasn't bad either. It wasn't dry but was lacking the punch that I've been accustomed too. It really needed the sauce to bring out the taste of the meat. The coleslaw was pretty straightforward and not watery.
If anything go here the special days they are smoking beef or ribs and you won't be disappointed.
