My fiancee and I had a lovely weekend get-away at Issy's B&B. We chose the Romantic Get-Away package, which included an enormous basket of Vermont goodies, a bottle of wine, and dinner for two at a great (and locally popular) Bristol restaurant (Bobcat Cafe). We stayed in the little cabin out back and couldn't have been happier in our very private, exceedingly cute little retreat complete with stereo, tapes, books, tv, vcr, dvd player, mini-fridge, dishes, comfy bed with electric blanket, microwave, and tea kettle. What more could we need? Cosy and comfy and warm. Breakfast was a grand affair, and Issy was very friendly and sociable, as were the other guests.
Bristol and the surrounding areas are breathtakingly beautiful with wide-open pastures and farms, surrounded by mountains. This is the full Vermonty. :-)
As Issy herself would tell you, this isn't the Holiday Inn. So keep in mind that you're getting an economical price because of the following. You have to share a bathroom. And in the case of the cabin, you have to go to the main house for the bathroom. If this isn't your cup of tea, stay someplace else.
Also, there is only one tv that has cable. This means you can either do without tv during your stay, or watch it communally with the other guests.
If you can do without these things, check out this off-the-beaten track, clean, friendly and charming bargain.
