“Half and Half”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Pros - Cute little area to check in at. The mid-day lady was very sweet, and told us about a few places to check out. Located very close to all the action, so to speak. Room was large enough for the price. A little out dated, but what I expected. Clean.

Cons - The indoor pool and hot tub closed at 7:45. A little too early in my opinion.

My biggest gripe is this. While the lady who checked us in was warm and welcoming, the overnight lady was so nasty. We wanted to build a snowman, cause there was nothing else to do at 11 pm. We didn't come prepared. We walked to the front desk to ask if there was anywhere we could go buy snow gloves. Not only was she not welcoming, she acted like we were there to rob her. Fine, be cautious. We asked if she could give us a few extra trash bin bags that we could wrap around our cloth gloves to keep them dry... Her response - "just use a pair of your socks, that should work" - First, no it wouldn't. Second, it's not like I was asking a huge favor . I asked again for trash bags and she just didn't respond and acted like she was doing something. Pretty rude if you ask me.

“Horrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I reserved 4 rooms for us to have a Christmas family gathering. 14 grown ups and children.
I was told 3 suites and 1 standard room. When I got there the girl at the desk, who originally
called back twice due to mistakes, although sweet she giggled all through the phone call.
I had the emails with all the rooms confirmed, they had them all wrong Instead of a simple apology the So-Called Manager Mary Ellen laughed through the whole check in process and said O well we messed up and didn't fix the problem.
The housekeeper the next morning walked into our rooms at 730 am and when told to leave and stand outside our window and sing. O and if you happen to end up here make sure you get sheets at the desk because they don't bother to put sheets on the pull out bed.I didn't even bother to call the owners, I could tell by the staff I would get the same reaction.

“A Little Off the 'Beaten' Path”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

Someone earlier called it a "vintage hotel" and I think that's apt, except it's a motel - not hotel. Some aspects of the place are dated or a bit worn, which is typical of motels, but it also has a nice 75-foot saltwater pool and fitness center in a separate building from lodging. It also has a restaurant/tavern and offers complimentary fresh muffins and coffee/tea, or you can upgrade to lattes for a decent price. A Hannaford grocery store is just a walk across the street.

We had excellent customer service - check-in and check-out were a breeze and we didn't require much in between. The room itself was clean and with all of the expected amenities (microwave, fridge, tea/coffee set, TV in an armoire, armchair, desk set, two queen sized beds and plenty of room. That's what struck me most for a motel - there was a lot of room to move.

One of us had trouble sleeping because of a bright light just outside our door. Otherwise, all was well. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure during marathon showers in the morning. If you are just passing through or need a place to park your stuff, I recommend the Colonial. We went during the peak fall foliage season but were still able to get a special rate. If you have time, be sure to dine at the nearby Marina restaurant - great food, service and views.

Room Tip: I didn't see an elevator, so if you have mobility issues, be sure to ask for a ground-floor room...

“Leftover food and rude service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

There was leftover food in the turned off refrigerator which grossed me out. Looked like it was seafood. Yikes. The TV remote required "reprogramming" which had written instructions and I carefully followed to no avail. The lady at the front desk was very rude when I called regarding a blinking message light in my room. She told me to dial 350 and follow the voice prompt. I did so and the voice prompt asked me for a password. I tried the room number but it was not the password. When I called back to the front desk to ask for the password the lady told me that she did not know what I was talking about. She then repeated the dial 350 and follow the voice prompts. Her tone and attitude left much to be desired. There are better ways to spend your money rather than dealing with rude service and sketchy room details.

“Vintage Hotel!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

Out of no where, this is a particular hotel. Different section, we where in the back part, with the king bed. A tv as big as you can't remember they made them. Big room, clean, old but with a style that you could love. The floor will be noisy when you walk but it could be charming...if you don't need all that sleep. I wish they would have put chairs near the rooms so we could appreciate relaxing outside. The pool area and the outside of the hotel neads TLC. Coffee in the room is ok but I was sorry to ask for a cappucino in the lobby, seeing how hard it seemed to be for the clerk to get up and make it, because you could have coffee or tea with a homemade muffin in front.
