Well, after reading the last review we decided to head into Brattleboro for the evening. We came down from Burlington, Vermont on our way back to RI.
The front desk staff was very polite and accomodating at this funky/retro hotel. We were offered a large room which was clean and neat. We were pleased to see a refrigerator in the room. Since we literally walked in off the street the full bed wasn't quite large enough for us and consequently was uncomfortable. Too soft a mattress for us. We toughed it out though.
We ventured off to see the bridge in town and decided to get a drink at the bar upstairs that overlooks the Conneticut River. Later we ate dinner in town and then were thrilled to have gone to the Latchis Theater which has been restored to it's glory. Even if you don't see a movie, you must see the inside of this theater. There are plans to restore the marque outside the theater as well. If that isn't your cup of tea then consider having a beer at the bar/microbrewery contained within the same building on the corner street. It looks like a great place.
The town itself was clean but the buildings due to there age look little likethey could use a powerwash. However, we found the entire town it to be very interesting, artsy and laid back.
There were multiple bookstores, which we loved to romp around in. The Food-Coop offers some spendid dishes that you can either eat in there cafe area or take it to go.
A simple breakfast was offered where you can have a small yogurt, juice, coffee, tea or toast/muffin.
We would stay here again but in a room with a queen sized bed.
