My husband and I went here on a business trip. I must admit, the only thing I thought I would see in Vermont was snow. Well, of course, I did see that, but, there was more to it. This Hampton Inn is located just a few miles from everywhere! There are plenty of restaurants, shoe stores, grocery stores, Home Depot, Walmart, movie theater (1 block away) and bowling, all located just blocks away. There is a grocery store and Chili's Restaurant, located in the same parking lot as the hotel.

The staff were very pleasant. We arrived a few hours early and they were able to accomodate us with a smile. The breakfast was Delicious! What a selection. They even had biscuits and gravy! I'm a "city girl" and couldn't appriciate it at first, but after tasting it, I'm hooked!!! They have a free business center for internet access that helped us a lot when we needed to print our boarding passes for the return flight.

Our room was had a king sized bed and a sleeper sofa. The bathroom was gorgeous. Regretably, I didn't get to see the pool and sauna because of my schedule. My husband did and he said it was really nice.

I am really looking forward to coming here again for my next trip that I might just turn into a (ski) vacation.

“A clean chain hotel”

Hampton Inn Bennington

A nice clean Hampton Inn hotel located about three to four miles from Bennington. I would suggest that the hotel is set up for passing trade rather than for anyone wanting to stay more than a couple of nights. The clientele appeared to be business people or like us those on a road trip for say the fall foliage. It was full at the time of our visit.

The hotel offerd a limited complimentary breakfast but no evening restaurant. There are a few fast food chains near by but otherwise you have to travel into Bennington for restaurants, which are few and far between after dark.

Our room was the normal spacous clean rectangle with an average size en suite bathroom.

It is difficult to pick up on any unusual points with regard to this type of hotel other than say it is functional, clean with polite staff. It was satisfactory for our needs and would use it again if in the area.

“Sad example of Hilton Hospitality”

How does one fault and advise a clueless but earnest staff and management that their building is a lemon. That's it. A lemon. The closet doors won't close because the hangers are bulging out. And that is just the start of a rather silly laundry list of contractor/architect errors. The walls are so thin that I called to my wife, "Turn the TV down!!". It was people in the halls. Because the AC was noisy, we opened the windows. Bad choice. People arguing just below us having smokes at 3:30 AM! Where was the staff? Who knows? Did I really have to shout down like in some tenement?

And (we were there for the best part of a week) the Inn was full every night. Did they bring in extra help for housekeeping or breakfast? Of course not. Checking in at 4:30 PM: "Your room is not ready". Hilton: "Check in at 3PM".

At breakfast, everything was either "Gone" or "it'll be out soon", or "we didn't get a delivery" from a harried and sweaty lone person trying her damnedest to get everything out. We were about to ask for a tea-bag, but she alone was emptying the trash into the dumpster out back! At 7:30 AM! The breakfast hostess!

There are some truly inspired restaurants in the area. The staff flatly refused to recommend. Opting for Sports Bars in the area.

And this is the littlest but biggest annoyance: as a Hilton Honors member, I never once got my morning paper at my door in the morning (the only such negligence ever in the entire United States as a member). Front desk had never heard of it!!! Hello, Hilton!!!

But back to the lemon building: The elevator is the slowest in Hilton History, and I have a laundry list of contractor faux-pas that are actually quite amusing. The front desk did admit that the contractor had "made off with the funds" and they had to find locals to finish it. No surprise, but no excuse!

I am given to understand that this Hampton Inn is just a year and a half old. Fine. But while they work out the clinks, why not vacuum and shampoo the carpet in the elevator?

I suggest that the owner/franchiser get into the boardroom at Hilton and see what can be done to fix the mistakes and get a real Hilton Property in order.

To that end, I would like to consider this constructive criticism and a big "Heads-up". They could be wonderful, if they'd wake up!

I stay here frequently for business. It's a nice new hotel with comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff, and a decent breakfast.

For a Hampton, it also has an above average fitness center and pool.

Staff remembers me each week and the check in process is very fast.

The rates are little high but they are the best game in town and can get away with it I guess.

“Great Hotel”

Hampton Inn Bennington

I stayed at this hotel for a weekend get-away. The staff was fantastic! We were greated by a warm welcome and check in was very fast and efficient. The bedding (which I guess is new) was very fresh and clean. I was pleasently surprised to see that my socks did not get dirty on the carpet (which is normal in most hotels). The room was spacious and cofortable. We went down to breakfast the next morn, and I was again impressed. I would typically spend $10 a person at Denny's for a hot meal like what they served. The wireless was strong (and FREE huge bonus!) I did not use the fitness center, but the indoor pool and hot tub were great. Will definately stay here again!
