“Great accommodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Stayed last Wednesday, and was pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable beds and in a quiet area of Barre. Breakfast was good and the front staff was courteous and helpful. Next trip to Barre, I will look no further than The Hollow Inn.

This place has so much potential, but unfortunately does not live up to any of it. It's very cute from the outside, and looks like a neat old hotel. Unfortunately, it's just an old hotel. Our room smelled of smoke. There were cigarette burns in the comforters and blankets. We even found a cigarette butt by the iron. The bathroom was dirty and had hair in it. Someone had burned incense in one of the picture frames, and the staff just left it there. There were holes in the wall. I've never stayed in a place quite this bad. The breakfast was also disappointing. Brown bananas and the other choices didn't look much better. We opted to eat at the gas station down the road, which was surprisingly really good.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

We.reserved a room 4 months in advance of our arrival. We were there to take our daughter to norwich university to begin her rook week. Upon our arrival we attempted too check in when we were told that we needed to pay cash for our stay because someOne forgot to copy down our credit card info. Upon giving cash were told that he didn't have any change too stop by the next day. We were given our keys and told where to park. Unpacking our vehicle we carried numerous bags to the main building and entered through a side door as instructed and proceeded too the second floor. The smell of staleness and musty was overpowering. We then reached our door and placed the key in the door only to open the door and see people laying in there. We went too the check in desk and was told that he wasn't aware of that room being occupied. He then took our keys and said he was completely full and would refund money. We where then left to find other accommodations. Unfortunately there was no rooms available within a 40 mile radius. Being that it was 10pm already we asked if he could assist in finding other accommodations for us. Eventually we were told to go to the comfort inn down the road. We arrived there and was told we could only stay till morning because the room was booked the next day. So we were left again finding other accommodations for the remainder of our stay. Needless too say the hotel was not what was described on the site. It was in need of cleaning and updating from the 70`s. Norwich families should look elsewhere or will be disappointed.

This hotel is terrible, and they charged $120.00 last week. The hotel is old, and not charming. The rooms were in really bad shape, and the continental breakfast was awful, they did not even have real cream for your coffee.

We booked this room in advance because of the location and the king bed. The reviews that I read had me very skeptical. Even after arriving I was skeptical because there weren't a lot of people staying there except for in the hotel part across the parking lot. When we arrived in our room on the 2nd floor we were thoroughly surprised! Huge room and bathroom which were very clean. A balcony overlooking the pool out back. We were there in May so it didn't seem to be open yet and we didn't have a need for it. There was a sitting area and kitchenette with a mini fridge.
We weren't bothered by anyone and the place was quiet.
The only downside was the Wi-Fi going in and out, but it was acceptable.
Breakfast was pretty standard, nothing to write home about.
I would definitely stay here again.
