“A True Oasis in the Desert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

My fiancé and I happened across this incredible place unknowingly by virtue of the internet. We were looking for a place to stay near Bryce Canyon N.P., which it is a little off the beaten path from Bryce, but totally worth the 20 minute or so drive out of the park. The Stone Canyon Inn is incredibly appointed and managed by truly wonderful hosts. The price was totally worth it, in fact, I would say that it is an incredible deal given the location and what the nearby places have to offer for the same cost in lodging. Our room was fabulous! It had a spectacular view of Bryce Canyon N.P. and surrounding area. Our room also had a large Jacuzzi tub with large window looking out on the scene as well. We loved it so much, that my fiancé was inquiring about getting married there. Enough said! Definitely worth the stay. We wish we had stayed longer than one night, hope to visit again soon!

Very clean and unique. 2 couples stayed at a 2 bedroom small lodge. Well appointed - furniture, kitchen TV, bedding. Hot tub. Very nice and friendly hotel owners. This is bascially a group of small cottages seemingly built recently. Even had a gas fireflace which was a real nice touch for the winter night we stayed here. Wish we could have stayed longer but a snow storm was predicted so we left early. Go and enjoy!

My fiance and I stayed for two nights at Stone Canyon Inn during our visit to Bryce Canyon in the beginning of February. They were nice enough to upgrade us to one of the cabins with the hot tub. The cabin was great, roomy and comfortable. The fireplace and hot tub were awesome. The night sky from the hot tub was one of the best I've seen. The breakfast at the Inn was excellent, great variety and everything was delicious. They were very flexible with the time we could arrive, and were a great help getting us there, and were thoughtful enough to let us know our limited options for dining on the way into town that night. All in all the place was great and the staff was too. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

On a related note, we don't know why Bryce isn't as popular in the Winter as in the summer. Not only did the canyon look amazing dappled with snow, but hiking through the snow filled canyon was beautiful, fun, and not packed with other hikers. Bring a coat, get some crampons and hit up Bryce in the winter.

Our five night stay at Stone Canyon Lodge was outstanding this last December! Our cabin was deluxe and very private with views out into the woods and cliffs. We were able to cross-country sky from the lodge's area into Bryce National Park, it could not of been more beautiful with the snow draping over the red hoodoos. AND then at the end of these awe inspiring days we were lucky enough to come home to our warm and cozy cabin! The whole visit really, really could not of been any better, it was vacation that is in the top 10 for my husband and me! Thank-you Dixie and Mike for everything that you have created and your warm welcome to your beautiful corner of Utah.

We stayed in The Cedar Room for 2 nights in December. All credit to the owners of Stone Canyon for staying open during the winter when visitor numbers are low and it's cold outside. It was a pleasure on our Grand Circle tour to stay in a home rather than a hotel, with home cooked breakfasts, a fire in the lounge, underfloor heating in the bedroom and plenty of personal touches. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, and the deck with its gorgeous view was covered in snow on our second morning. Room service was in the form of a tractor to clear away the snow to our car! The only downside to staying here, or indeed anywhere in Tropic, is that in winter you'll be having dinner at Ruby's Inn at the gateway to the park. It's the only restaurant open at that time of year, so you'll need to plan your time accordingly. But Stone Canyon Inn was well worth the short diversion from Bryce Canyon to stock up on home comforts and a warm welcome.

I stayed at Stone Canyon Inn during Thanksgiving holidays in November, 2012. After visiting their website, seeing the great accommodations and the wealth of traveler information provided, this appeared to be a good base for my hiking plans in Bryce Canyon. Also, I was interested in using the Tropic Trail for my access into the park and the Stone Canyon Inn was very close by.

Pre-check in communications with Dixie Burbidge were very professional and helpful. I was greeted by her and Mike on late check-in and made to feel at home right away. I stayed in the Juniper Room (#2, ground floor) which was perfect for a solo traveler, but might be a little cozy for a couple that doesn't travel light.

Over the next three days, I made several hikes into the canyon via the Tropic Trail, whose trailhead is only 2.5 miles away from the Inn (down Bryce Way to the park border). It was an excellent way to enter and visit the park without having to deal with traffic and tourists on the rim. Dixie has an incredible wealth of knowledge of the area and actually convinced me to change some of my hiking plans, to which I'm grateful.

Breakfast in the Inn was excellent: coffee at 7;30, sit-down breakfast with fellow guests at 8:30, with heart-warming presentations of cowboy poetry by Mike and then follow-up visits by Dixie with all of us on our hiking plans. I can understand why some folks would want privacy in the cabins, but they would miss out on all the morning fun!

One caveat: supper dining is limited, especially during the winter season. Clarke's Restaurant (in Tropic) was gracious enough to remain open during the Thanksgiving holidays, but it may be your only option. Either prepare to dine elsewhere with considerable driving or eat in. If in a cabin, preparing your own dinner is the way to go.

This ranks as one of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in and will absolutely return there on my next visit to Utah.

Room Tip: The Juniper Room (#2) may be too small for some couples, but perfect for a solo traveler. Other roo...

Recently on a vacation, a group of 4 of us stayed at the Stone Canyon Inn with the Burbidge's. The accomodations and food were wonderful. What was even better were the owners, Mike and Dixie Burbidge. The were wonderful hosts providing more than we ask for with great suggestions for hikes, places of interest and good places to eat. We even had cowboy poetry over breakfast as presented by Mike! We would go back there in a heart beat!

Room Tip: You can not go wrong with any room at the Inn. Each room is decorated beautifully and they are spac...
