“What a wonderful treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

We booked this B&B from the internet for 2 nights, but ended up staying for 3. The rooms (each unique) were visually appealing and very comfortable, and our room gave us a magnificent setting for the sunrise over the red hills.

Our host, Matt, made us feel completely welcome to use whatever was there, e.g., wine glasses and extra plates for afternoon snacks. And perhaps best of all, he pointed us to a "local" trail that took us through the wilderness to the base of the amphitheaters that you could (in winter) only see from above in Bryce National Park. It was a magical experience.

Nice new house in which we had a large corner room. Very clean and comfortable. Owner was very accomodating and informative. Very good breakfast and good place to meet travelers from around the world. Only about 10 minutes away from Bryce Canyon Natl Pk. We would most definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Excellent place to stay!

it is in a great location and our room was very nice (if a bit characterless), with a great view. however, we felt the hosts became a bit unfriendly and unwelcoming. however, Bryce canyon is the mosr phenominal place, and as you are only sleeping there, i would go back since it is such an amazing place you cannot miss it.

Pros: Great breakfast, although a little overkill in quantity of food (eg. hot cereal followed by a fruit crepe and zucchini bread). Very nice hospitality. CON: The house and the room have little character. Our room faced a neighbor who had a lot of junk on his property. You can't control the room temp and to open the window allowed a ton of flys to come in. The mattress was horrible and we both had aching backs afterwards.

Not realizing October is peak travel season in Southern Utah, I had few options available when I booked accommodations in August. This B&B got good reviews and was one of the few with availability. It is in a good location as you can access a trail leading (a long ways) into Bryce Canyon at the end of the road where the inn is located. Our welcome was most inviting with warm landscaping & a most personal stray cat appropriately named "Bryce." Unfortunately, things went south when greeted by Matt, the onsite manager. He tossed us our receipt (the room was prepaid in full), gave us a room key, led us to our room, then grumbled about being from Arizona and how anxious he was to return because of a dislike for Tropic. No mention was made about breakfast the next morning nor did he offer to help with bags, though the rooms are on the second floor accessed by stairs. In all fairness, it seems that Matt was temporarily assisting the owners who were dealing with health concerns, but his negativity spilled readily into the atmosphere of the inn and his helper. Our room, Under-the-Rim, was quite lovely and spacious with a sitting area that afforded a beautiful view of the mountains at sunset. The cowboy decor just adds to the charm of the area. The bathtub was not clean, but overall the room was nice and otherwise clean. Breakfast was quite yummy and was served family style at two large tables. This provides a great opportunity to meet the other guests. Tropic is a quaint town with limited options for dining, but its appeal is the proximity to Bryce Canyon, which is heaven on earth. The fact that there are limited options for B&Bs near the canyon permits higher prices than what would be commanded in other areas. Though pricey, we would consider this option again if the regular proprietors were back in charge.

We spent 2 nights in the Fairyland room. It is a large room on the first floor located just off the breakfast room. The room had 2 chairs outside the door so we could sit outside and look off towards the cliffs of Bryce Canyon. The room also has a nice seating area with lots of lights. So often hotel and B & B rooms are dark and hard to read in so this is really nice.

The breakfasts are huge, two course affairs. Unfortunately we filled up on the first course one morning and weren't able to do justice to the main course. They are served at tables so you can visit with the other guests. They get people from all over the world which makes for interesting conversation.

Nan is what makes this place special. She is a fount of information about the area. You need to ask her questions when you first arrive to make the most of all the information she has. That's how we learned about a back entrance trail to Bryce. We didn't try it but it sounded like it would be interesting, especially if you had someone to drop you off at Bryce, hike into the canyon and then out to the B & B.

We stayed at Bryce Trails for a couple of nights recently and were very impressed. We usually stay at hotels/motels but everywhere was really busy the weekend we were at Bryce Canyon so we decided to give the B&B a go and it was a great decision. Matt and Nan were so welcoming and the room (Navajo Loop) was extremely comfortable and clean and we had the best nights sleep possible! Breakfast was an absolute delight and we enjoyed chatting with the other guests and watching the hummingbirds in the garden. Would not hesitate to stay here again if we are in the area, what a gem!
