“Beautiful,relaxing, well-appointed rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

I loved staying here for my birthday. I got a studio with a fireplace and fridge. The beds are very comfy and the toiletries smell wonderful. The room had large picture windows of the amazing view. Walking the grounds you see colored leaves and babbling brooks. I can't wait to go back. We sat by a fireplace in the Foundry Grill for our fabulous pasta dinner.

We visited during September and it was a fabulous time. Great colours on the mountains, pleasant temperatures and not many people. Cabins were in good order and clean. Nothing more to add suffice to say that you need to bring your camera, some warm clothing for the cooler night temperatures, and you'll have a great time.

At Sundance Resort we are extremely fortunate that nature paints the mountains with rich and vibrant hues of red, orange and yellow this time of year for our guests. The autumn is a magnificent season for a visit, the air is cool and there is colorful scenery everywhere you look. We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will return again soon! Thank you so much for your review.

We stayed at this mountain ski resort/wildlife preserve/art & film colony in the fall for a workshop. The cabins and rooms were all rustic western with log beams, fireplaces, ironwork and lots of stone - very peacefully tucked within the woods and across the hillsides. The leaves were turning red and gold so every vista was breath-taking! The three eating places (fine dining, casual fare, and deli) were the only options, although each cabin had a full kitchen. A must-do is taking the ski lift up the mountain to do some hiking.

Room Tip: Each room/cabin is different, find out what's available in your price range.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

This was our first visit to Sundance Resort, and certainly one for the memories. We attended a wedding weekend, where catering really excelled in all respects. The food was delicious! We had a detached cabin, good size, cozy bed with full kitchen. Although there's only one sink, making it tight, and the shower head is hardly top notch (probably to save water which is okay), we still enjoyed the overall amenities. Check in was smooth. Our room was ready 2 hours early, which we appreciated.

I could only cite 3 other issues during our visit, which is why my final evaluation is "very good", and not excellent:

1. Housekeeping did not clean our cabin after the first night. They showed up at 9 a.m. and my spouse asked that they come back at 10 a.m. They didn't come back at all! We called housekeeping at 4 pm to find out what happened, and to request 2 foam pillows. Housekeeping claimed that we put the "do not disturb" sign out, which was blatantly untrue. So, they sent a couple of men with towels, and no foam pillows. The men explained that there were no housekeeping staff remaining on the property to clean the room. This was also unacceptable, but we decided to let it be, and asked the men to please bring the foam pillows. They did not do so. We called again at 6 pm and the foam pillows were finally delivered.

2. Our cabin front door did not have a blind attached, and given the proximity of the bathroom sink area, one could clearly see in if the bathroom area was ajar.

3. There was no full length mirror in the room (or we never found it - more likely that it simply didn't exist). For weddings, it's always nice to have a full length mirror.

Everything else was wonderful. I enjoyed a great (albeit very pricey) manicure at the Spa. And front desk staff did adjust our bill at checkout for the aforementioned housekeeping inconvenience.

About an hour from Salt Lake City and through a winding canyon is Sundance Resort, legendary for Redford, mountains and movies. The property has charm, views and a good kitchen. Rooms are up the hill with balconies and privacy, elegantly furnished and quiet. One can meander by foot, curl up and read, pick up gourmet deli food, let the young, charming staff do their helpful thing, go to yoga, take a hike, relax after sports. A definite return spot. Many earnest young potential filmmakers and other workshop types plus some glamour in the dining room. Fun!

Room Tip: bedroom suite has small kitchenette
