“Not for the whole family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Many of the trails are too challenging for kids and "cruiser" skiers. Best for those of expert level.

“Skiing as a family”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We skied here on Christmas Eve with my 3 adult children and my husband. I have skied a lot in Utah but have never been to Snowbird. Two of my 3 kids liked the resort, my husband and I were pretty frustrated. It would be better to come with someone who knows the lay of the land. We would all agree to meet at the bottom of the lift and half of us would end up at the wrong lift. We spent too much time trying to find each other or to find runs that would suit us. We also got lost in the lodge. There didn't seem to be a central gathering point that we could find. We like to bring out lunch and there is a brown bag area, but it was not convenient to our car so we spent too much time on that. If we had to do it over again, we would have brought our lunch with us and locked it in the lockers in the basement ($7). We didn't know there would be a convenient shuttle bus that would take us to the lodge from the parking lot. Another option that would have made everything much easier would be to have parked at the Gad lift, as that is where we spent most of our time. Mostly because we kept ending up there, even though we were trying to stay on the Peruvian lift. Food was very expensive. We just skied the same week at another resort and Hamburgers were $5 cheaper there. That being said, the snow was great, the runs were in great condition, two of my kids can't wait to go back. It would have been better if my husband and I had gone once, gotten the lay of the resort, just paid for our meals, before we paid for our kids to come up. We would have gotten more out of our investment in the day if we had done that. Or if we had gone with someone who had already figured out the resort. Live and Learn.

“December skiing was great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We were lucky to arrive in a snowstorm! We had fresh powder for the entire 4 days of skiing. Although the locals were disappointed in the lower than average snowfall, we were not! There was plenty open including the Alta Connection which we also took advantage of during our stay. We would highly recommend a Christmas ski vacation to Snowbird!

“Christmas skiing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

While my husband and I have skied the Park City resorts several times, this was the first ski trip to Utah for our two kids (5 and 8). Based on pre-trip research, Snowbird seemed to offer a fair number of green/beginner terrain and also good value (kids under 6 ski free) - so we purchased tickets in advance. Unfortunately, the baby thunder / family area portion of the mountain was not open at all. We were surprised/disappointed that the mountain would not have been better prepared for visiting families - especially given the holidays. The scenery here is incredible. And the mountain seems especially well suited for very advanced skiers.

“New Hi Speed Quad at Gad 2”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

It was still early season so there were some icy and bare spots, but the skiing was still decent--especially off the new hi speed quad at Gad 2. This allows more options for great skiing in minimal time in addition to Mineral Basin and the Arial Tram. There is nothing like the tram at Snowbird that takes you to the top of the mountain in 8 minutes. I can get a great workout in just a half day of skiing the tram.
