“Nice staff; great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

We stay in St. George often, and this is the first time we stayed at the Crystal Inn. The front desk clerk was very friendly. The rooms, though outdated, were very comfortable and very clean. We had a standard king room, bottom floor, with access directly to the pool area through a sliding glass door. We did not take advantage of the pool, but it was the nicest pool area I have seen at a hotel in a while. Many families were enjoying it and couples lounging in the chairs. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was a treat. It almost looked as if the breakfast area was an onsite restaurant at one time. There was a "buffet" area with all the food, then there were booths or tables to sit at and eat. It was much "calmer" than most hotel breakfast rooms. Price was very good, people friendly, rooms clean, and great breakfast; we would definitely stay here again.

This is more than just a typical hotel off the highway. Yes, the bathroom is small and the furniture is a bit dated, but who cares? The rooms are spotless; there’s a fridge, microwave, and flat screen TV with extensive cable and HBO; the location couldn’t be better (very quiet); and breakfast is included. And don’t think it’s a continental breakfast of packaged muffins or a layout of cold, rubbery eggs that have been sitting there for who knows how long—no, this is a hotel breakfast you can actually eat!

Oh, and the pool area is lovely! The water was sparkling and at a perfect temperature, and we could walk right out from our room to the deep end of the pool in only about 12 steps. It’s a good sized pool, and by hanging out near the deep end (over 8 feet), you’re somewhat removed from the kids in the shallow end (and therefore less likely to drown the one who decides to start up a game of Marco Polo).

This is by no means a fancy place, but it certainly met all our needs. And believe me, I’m a germ freak who is hard to please. Consider this my stamp of approval!

Room Tip: If you're looking forward to relaxing by the pool, ask for a room on the first opening to the po...

Just stayed one night but the staff was very helpful and friendly.
Loved the rooms being right by the pool so you could just walk out the sliding door and be there.
The rooms were nice and roomy for 4 people.

This hotel has great location, away from all the chaos, yet it has easy access to the freeway which will quickly put you back in the center of things. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious.(We reserved a standard king room.) The bed was very comfortable as well. Too bad we didn't get to really take advantage of it's comfort very long. (See complaint below) Breakfast was really good and the staff kept it well stocked. The front desk staff and the breakfast staff were cheerful, helpful and very accommodating. I only have two complaints. 1.) The bathroom was tiny. When the door swung open it literally came within less than an inch of the front of the toilet seat. Not a really big deal, but not very good planning for the space. 2.) My biggest complaint is that the rooms are not very sound proof. We had a pool side room on the second floor, but didn't notice much excessive noise from that direction. While anything that happens in the hall, sounds like it's happening right in your room. Unfortunately, we had chosen the same night for our visit as a large group was there for a family reunion. The hall noise was excessive until well after 11PM and began again before 7AM, lots of kids running up and down the hall, doors slamming and even the adults made no attempt to keep their voice down or control the kids. The "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door made no difference. They seemed to be oblivious to the fact that there were other people in the hotel besides their group. While I realize the hotel can't always control their guests rude behavior, maybe a heavier door without a large gap at the bottom would go a long way in filtering out the hall noise. The situation kind of defeated the purpose of finding a quiet, out of the way hotel with a late check out for a leisurely morning. Even with the great staff, I'm not sure I would stay here again if I was looking for a leisurely, quiet stay. If I just needed a quick stop, this would be an option. You might want to check if there are any large groups tying there first.

Thank you for your review. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed our clean rooms and our amazing breakfast. Our full hot breakfast buffet is one of the best in town. I’d like to apologize for the noise issues that you experienced. I will train our Front Desk staff to be more attentive and aware of noise on the busy weekends. Every guest deserves to have a restful sleep. I hope that you will give the Crystal Inn another chance when you travel through Southern Utah.

We stopped in St George on the first night of a family vacation. The hotel is in a good location, close to the highway and across the street from a retail area. The night we were there, the hotel was full of high school kids who were attending a football camp. St George has a lot of camps and sports tournaments so you may want to check who is staying at the hotel before you book you stay.

We made the reservation through Hotwire and noticed soon after that we had made a mistake on the date. I called the hotel and the hotel manager was extremely gracious and agreed to make a change in the date. This was very kind of the hotel manager since typically you cannot make changes if you reserve through Hotwire. We got room 127 at the end of the hallway. This was a wheelchair accessible room and perhaps roomier than most. It was was nice and clean. The shower with it's foldable seat was a bit akward, and a cracked rubber barrier let shower water flow onto the bathroom floor, but otherwise the room was OK. A few times something that sounded like a generator turned on somewhere very close to the room and would run for a few seconds to about 20-30 min at a time. We were relieved that it did not run during the night because it was so loud that it would have definitely awoken us. A week previously we had stayed at Comfort Inn at Convention Center right across the highway and thought it was pretty comparable to Crystal Inn. Comfort Inn had slightly easier access from the highway than Crystal Inn. Both were good places for one night and had similar breakfasts. Go with Crystal Inn if you are really keen on waffles for breakfast - they have three waffle makers compared to just one at Comfort Inn. In the morning we found that the hotel personnel had slid a paper under our door stating a balance of about $70. We were a bit worried about this since we had prepaid through Hotwire. Turns out that they had made a mistake. All in all a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose room 127 if you need wheelchair access.

My husband and I were in charge of 5 just-about-to-graduate high school students. Crystal Inn was the perfect choice for several reasons. The price was right, the free breakfast was delicious, the pool area is fabulous, and the people who worked at the hotel were very kind and friendly.
