“Family Reunion at The Yarrow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

Our extended family (50 strong - ages 3-88) spent three days at this hotel and it fit our needs surprisingly well. The rooms were spacious and clean, the lobby was appealing and the catered dinners were just what we needed. The kids loved the pool and several of our young adults enjoyed the work out center. The hotel staff put all of the rooms in close proximity so we were all together in the same area of the hotel. This hotel is a focal point as you come into town (easy to find) and close to the action of the historic district, museum and chairlift to the top of the mountain for spectacular views.
If you have a few spare hours in P.C. be sure to visit The Winter Olympics Training Facility(just outside of town) to watch some of America's best young athletes prepare for the upcoming competitions. A tour bus (minimal cost) takes you around the facility and a young guide explains some of the nuances of the various (less publicized as well as the old standards) events. It is an excellent way to spend an afternoon.
The only downside of The Yarrow is the fact that this venerable Old Lady is starting to show her age and might have a little trouble competing with some of the newer, more modern facilities.

Very friendly staff, clean, located next to grocery store. The Jacuzzi and pool were great. The bar and restaurant were great. Very friendly environment. Located in a very nice place. Close to deer valley and not too far from the outlets.

Dear Guest,

We really appreciate your business and your comments. You found us caring out our Mission of friendly service, clean rooms and public areas.

We love our location which places you near everything Park City has to experience. And with such great competition, it is nice to learn you enjoyed our Mountain Grill and Skyline Bar.

We look forward to your next visit to Park City!

Respectfully,

Fair price with Groupon certificate, Safe and good location with food, gas and restaurants nearby. However, the facility is on the old and dark side. Way overdue for a sprucing up! A bit on the grungy side. No breakfast served. Building, décor and furniture all worn-out and tired. Not a special hotel, in the least. No strong points.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Dear OK,

We certainly appreciate your business.

We are constantly updating with flat screen HD TV's, granite vanity tops, bedding, etc. Your right about the age, we are proudly 33 years old, one of Park City's most successful hotels.

I am concerned about you comment regarding breakfast not being served. We have a three meal restaurant with daily service. If fact, we enjoy a great deal of "locals" for breakfast.

Hopefully we will see you in Park City again and I am sure we will have some additional updates.

Respectfully,

Kim Owen Dinsmoor

Booked this hotel thinking it was a 3 star when in reality it is more like 1.5 to 2. The lobby and entrance is very nice...they have a bar, restaurant and built in Starbucks. We arrived 20 minutes after check in to a very large line. Took about 20 minutes to get to the front of the line where the employee acted like he couldn't care less that we were there. He seemed upset that we requested a room with a King even though our reservation was for 2 queens. Once we got to the room we realized it was not a 3 star hotel. As others have mentioned, it is very basic and old. The room was clean, however, we quickly noticed 3 issues that left a bad taste in our mouths. The air conditioner was leaking what I assume to be water so the carpet by the window was soaking wet. The TV did not work properly...every time you touch a button on the remote it would turn off and back on again. The shower was making a high pitched squealing noise every time it was turned on. We cranked up the AC and left for dinner. When we returned the room was a balmy 85 to 90 degrees. We decided to not even bother about asking for another room because the front desk guy said it was booked out for the night. So we opened the sliding patio door and managed for the night. Won't be staying here again...hotel should be downgraded to 1.5 or 2 stars.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel.

Dear Hoping,

I am sorry your experience was less than expected.

I do apologize for the Air Conditioning. As you may know this Summer is adding up to heat records, and some of our units have struggled. We have just installed several new units, most likely replacing the unit you experienced. We also have more new units in reserve that were held up in shipping.

We still would have preferred to know the unit was not working while you were here, we may have been able to correct the problem while you were out.

The TV issue is really disappointing as our TV's are only two years old. We certainly could have quickly replaced the TV while you were out, although you may have not realized until closer to bedtime.

The room-type request was more frustration than anything else, as when we are sold out making room-type changes can be difficult with regards to Kings. Out of 181 guest rooms we only have 41 Kings, hopefully you can see way that can be a challenge. If you change your preference and it's available, we all but happy to make the change.

We do appreciate your giving us a chance and hopefully you will give us another opportunity!

Respectfully,

Kim Owen Dinsmoor

As recently retired seniors, my wife and I were very pleased with our stay at the Yarrow and Park City in general. This hotel is conveniently located by the city's no-fee transit system, which we used exclusively. The accommodations were clean and pleasant and the room price was hard to beat. Because we didn't make reservations ahead of time, I was pleasantly surprised.

Room Tip: Choose a lower floor room at the end of any hallway. It is a lot less noisy.

Amazing deal for this money in Park City. Hot tub with pool outside is an absolute blast, superb experience during winter season. The rooms are spacious, bright and clean, staff is very friendly. Location is perfect - under 5 min to Park City resort.

Built of cement block, this large facility is just that--large. Rooms are not uncomfortable, but also nothing to write home about. Breakfasts are mediocre in terms of both quality and choice. The location suited our purposes. The wake-up call service was broken, but no one seemed to notice except us. Good thing about the location is that the free bus is within a block and thus an easy trip to the Main Street area of Park City.

We appreciate your business! We did have a defect in our PBX and that has been repaired. It is unfortunately one of those items in our phone system that does not provide an automatic alarm to inform us that it needs replacement.

I see your point, but I think almost everyone uses their smart phones for everything. The in room guest phone has become just an internal communication tool.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
