“Quick get away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Nice place, super close to downtown. Plan on getting out and walking through Park City. Great for a family vacation. Really enjoyed the daily sheet listing the events, places to see/ things to do.
This is a family resort so expect to see and hear kids. large pool & spa area.

Room Tip: Rooms near the road are a litttle noisy. Parking and elevators were easy to access. Great front des...

GENERAL INFO: Stayed at Marriott Summit Watch for five nights. There are several buildings and you use your room key for building access. The hotel is conveniently located on the low end of Main Street. It is close to all of the shops, restaurants, the ski lift and the free buses at the bus terminal. Sundays they have a three block summertime street fair right near the hotel called Park Silly Sundays - where there is live music, local foods, arts and crafts for sale. They have a part time concierge in the lobby who has maps, coupons and can give you local information. They have a very large sitting area in the lobby with a flat screen and a single computer and printer with free access (even though the email confirmation about the hotel said there was a small fee to use it). There is a small 24 hour store in the lobby with food, sundries and movies to rent. There are several barbecues for use alongside picnic tables and chairs.

PROS: Value for money ($200 a night, when most of the resort hotels charged $400-500 a night). There is an angular indoor/outdoor pool which we used once (it was nice, but needed skimming). They had plenty of activities available to keep the kids occupied (video games, board games, basketball, etc). There are free laundry facilities in the building next door (you only need to buy detergent from the lobby store ($2) or bring your own). Free WiFi. Plenty of towels of all sizes.

The hotel room and bathroom are decently sized, with a king sized bed, small sitting area, sofa area and kitchenette (fridge, mini microwave, coffee maker, sink, toaster, etc.). The shower had excellent water pressure. There were lots of TV cable channels available (30+). There were lots of pillows on the bed. The toiletries were a generic brand but smelled nice (citrus-y).

CONS: We were put in a room right by the building entrance to the rooms and the walls were a little thin, so we heard lots of doors opening/closing and an entire phone conversation someone was having next door once. The shower head is pretty low, my boyfriend is almost six feet tall and had to crouch in the shower. The built in room safe was old school lock and key, not digital and was very small, only literally about 2 inches deep, so there is no room to store anything like an iPad or an SLR camera. One night during our five night stay, our room was not cleaned - I informed the front desk because we were out of shampoo and they were unaware that our room wasn't serviced.

The Fitness Center was decent with four treadmills and one elliptical trainer (all with TVs) and lots of weight machines BUT it is located in the very dark basement of the parking garage two buildings away and I wouldn't have felt very safe going alone. Don't know if it was the altitude, but the laundry we put in the dryer for 30 minutes still came out very damp and so we air dried stuff in our room. The many pillows on the bed were either huge and decorative or small (almost throw pillow sized) and too soft, so they weren't very comfortable.

The people at the front desk told us that since the free local bus service didn't begin until 6am and we were going on a day trip and needed to be there before then, they could call a local cab company 30 minutes prior to pick up for us. The next morning, when I called the front desk, they said the local cab companies did not have a dispatcher and would not be able to have cabs until 7am! It left us in the lurch and would have been very bad if our day trip had not been cancelled soon after due to the weather.

For visiting Park City in the middle of summer, during the Fourth ofJuly holiday, this hotel was the perfect pick. Located on historic Main Street it gave us walking access to all of the festivities including the all-American parade on the 4th. Although we also took excursions out of town, such as the Oakley Rodeo, being situated in town gave us a lot more freedom and flexibility with family and teenagers because we were less dependent on the car. The Marriott Summit Watch is much nicer than the photos. It is actually several buildings clustered together with access to a small plaza and all of the restaurants and shops on and around Main Street. While ths isn't a luxury hotel, it has everything you need. Our room was clean ad nicely appointed with a king bed, pull out queen sofa and a kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. Very basic and somewhat compact, but really everything you need. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: My room faced the plaza instead of the road, which I liked very much.

We decided to beat the heat in Salt Lake City and stay at the Summit Watch on Friday night with our family. This was our first trip to the property, and we could not have been more pleased. We received a very warm welcome from the front desk, and they answered all of our questions completely. I had requested a location near the pool, since we had our two kids with us, and we stayed in a villa just feet away from the swimming area. The building itself was very well kept and clean. Our villa was just as we had hoped, and extremely comfortable. The swimming pool / activity center was the real winner for us, as we were taking this trip for quality family time. I could not have asked for more.

This was our second stay at Summit Watch--previously about 6 years ago. We had a lovely two-bedroom unit, facing the inner side of the resort. The rooms (and elevators and hallways) were spotlessly clean. The mattress and pillows were very comfortable, and I loved the sheets! They've switched to a new housekeeping program--pay a fee for service if you want it during your stay. My husband and I are neat people--don't need anyone tidying up after us--so it worked out very well. I also appreciate the free parking--no daily resort fees. If you like to bike, you'll be happy with the easy access to paved paths. My only disappointment is the size and location of the fitness center--a small room off the garage. One more thing: Each and every interaction with a Marriott's employee was a pleasant experience.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room...

This hotel is located in a great spot - it's on Main Street so it's easy to walk to restaurants, shops, and nightlife. That's good and bad - our room faced Main Street, and while we enjoyed the view, the noise at night gets pretty loud. The underground parking was trouble-free and convenient. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and enjoyed it. There is a lovely fireplace, washer/dryer, and full kitchen. While not luxurious, it was close. The fitness center is one of the best I've seen in a hotel - a good assortment of cardio and weights, as well as dressing rooms and complimentary headphones. We did have a bit of a wait to check in, but the concierge recommended a nice restaurant for dinner while we waited so it worked out fine.

Room Tip: Be prepared for loud music/bar noises/sounds of revelry if you stay on the Main St side. If you wan...
