I like the concept of the Newpark hotel, especially for families, but also for a couples get-a-way and even a business event or meeting. Here's why:
(1) It's centrally located above great restaurants, within walking distance of: a cinemark movie theater, an awesome bowling alley (not your typcial bowling alley mind you...read my review of Cosmic Bowling) Wholefoods, massage envy, and a waxing and nail salon. Oh... and the Tanger Outlet stores...for those who like shopping (not me). Did I mention that you're close to the wetland preserve area complete with a walking trail? I liked that. The kids brought their scooters.
(2) You are not limited to one ski in/ski out property - you can experience ALL of them...the hotel offers complimentary shuttles that take you to the ski park of your choice, daily.
(3) If you use the hotel for a meeting or event, you can bring in your own catering, and there are great restaurants at VERY reasonable pricing, which benefits your budget in a great way. The meeting space rental was minimal, there is no F&B contract & you'll be extended great group rates for your attendees.
(4) The rooms are suites, and fully equiped. I did not love the hot tub on the deck (because of the size) but my kids did, which was great because it was, "just their size". It's a minature sized hot tub.
(5) For friends or large families that want to stay together, I recommend the two bedroom condo's that allow you access to all the amenities of the hotel, but a larger, home like space that everyone will love! They easily accomodate 8 comfortably. The hotel description says two bedroom, but there's a hidden gem with a "den" that has a pull out bed for two. Perfect for the kids and the condo is set along the walking trail....lot's of fun for the kids or a romantic walk for adult time.
(6) The pool area makes up for the lack of size of the hot tub on the deck. The pool is comfortably warm, it's indoor/outdoor with a nice hot tub located outside. There is a dry and wet sauna which I liked and a nice workout facility. However....all of this connects to Maxwell's, where the smell of delicious pizza and pasta will curb any desire to workout! I think it was specifically designed for that!
(7) You're downtown, without being "downtown". I liked the fact of being close to downtown Park City, but the freedom to also explore the outskirts and the surrounding area which is great for those who want to experience more than your typically overpriced main street.
(8) It's affordable. Even as a local, I was surprised at the affordable rate, for all the amenities that were included and the location. It's not your 5 star Montage hotel, but it's fun and unique and worth trying!
We had a great experience @ the Newpark hotel! I've stayed there more than once and it's consistent with good service and quality. You won't be dissapointed!
