“Great altenative to pricey mountainside lodging in Park City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

Newpark is a great place to stay for skiers headed to Park City who also want to spend time at other resorts such as The Canyons, Alta, Snowbird, and even Powder Mt. At about 10mins outside of Park City proper, it's much easier to get on the highway and access these other resorts.

The hotel itself is great, with new accommodations, outdoor hot tubs in most rooms, and nearby to reasonable restaurants and a grocery store. Last January, the Newpark hotel was overbooked, and the friendly staff found us a spot in the associated townhome complex at no cost, a very thoughtful touch.

Newpark is easily our preferred place to stay in the Park City area.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a room with a hot tub!

We had a very nice room - it was cramped with a big bed and sofa lounge area, but was very clean, luxurious and cozy. The bathtub was huge and the bathroom in general was very nice. The front desk guy was friendly and there was plenty of parking out front. The downsides were that the room could be part of a suite, and we could hear EVERYTHING through the door into the other half (luckily our neighbors were quiet). Also, we had only one window which opened onto an air shaft, so it felt a bit like being in a cave. But the price was good for the level of luxury, and the location was convenient for those passing through (close to the freeway, next door to lots of stores and restaurants), though a bit of a drive to downtown.

We recently spent sometime at the Newpark Resort. Great family resort. Our kids enjoyed the indoor/outdoor pool, and the private hot tub on the deck. Very clean, friendly service. Close to shopping. Great selection of restaurants close by. Definetly would stay there again.

My wife loved this place. It's located in a large shopping center and also next to a Tanger outlet. The hotel is very new. The room we had was a little on the small side, but the quality made up for that. Our room had a small sitting area with a fireplace, a flat screen TV, and a leather couch. The bathroom was also spotless and included guest robes. We also enjoyed the Keurig coffee very much. I thought the bed was a little small, but my wife found it fine.

A group of us rented a two bedroom townhome to celebrate a friend's birthday. It cost significantly less than most standard hotel rooms in Park City, and came with a garage, three bathrooms, and private hottub. Although separated from the main hotel, the townhome was still close to all the restaurants, grocery store, shopping, movie theater and bowling alley. The views were stunning, with the master bedroom deck perfectly positioned for the sunrise over the meadows and distant mountains. From the other side of the townhome, we had a nice view of the Olympic Winter Park. We loved the hottub on the deck, even though it was just a couple of fee from the neighbor's hottub (there was no one there anyway, so it didn't really matter). The hotel staff were very nice and accomodating. All members of our party look forward to the next time we can stay at the Newpark.

I have stayed at the Newpark Hotel and Convention Center 3 times, the last time for 2 days. The rooms are slightly small but extremely well appointed, with gas fireplace, kitchenette with sink and fridge, heated tile floors in the bathroom and a roomy deep tub for spouses who like to soak. The beds are EXTREMELY comfortable and with very low noise levels both inside and outside the hotel one can get a restful nights sleep. The surrounding area is wonderful as to restaurants which cover the complete range of tastes from Pizza to Sushi to gourmet. There is a Whole Foods market withing walking distance for organic tastes and lots of shopping opportunities within a 2 block radius from Best Buy to TJ Max and more. I have rarely stayed at a more conveniently located hotel and plan to stay there every time I travel to Park City or Salt Lake.

We had high expectations for this hotel based on its newness and some reviews we read on Trip Advisor before arriving. However, we left feeling very disappointed about our experience.

Pros:
* It's part of a mall, so there's plenty of restaurants, entertainment, and services within walking distance.
* It's right at the Interstate exit, so easy accessibility to SLC and the mountains.
* It's very new.
* A small fridge, sink, and dishes are provided in the room.

Cons:
* In general the rooms are small and poorly designed - much more about this below.
* There is no desk, so it was uncomfortable to work. I own my own business so had to do a few hours of work each day on my laptop. The only place to do that was sitting on the couch hunched over the coffee table - not work-friendly at all.
* Probably the worst part is that the air vent is located directly over the head of the bed. There was literally no way to sleep with the air on because it was blowing on our faces. We had to leave the air off at night which made it stuffy.
* Bring a ladder to get in and out of the bathtub/shower. The tub ledge is very high and wide... it's just dangerous.
* Not being from the area, we didn't realize that the hotel was not in Park City. It's 10-15 minutes door-to-door from the hotel to Main Street.
* It's very noisy in the morning. We were woken up several times at dawn by various construction and service vehicles right outside.
* There was also a lot of noise from the neighboring room - we could hear their conversation, hair dryer, baby, etc. Not because they were particularly loud, but because there was a door adjoining the rooms. Again, just poorly designed.
* There was some random loud *bang bang* knocking noise that occurred when we had the A/C on. Another reason we had to turn it off at night, otherwise this noise would've kept us awake.
* No microwave. Big-time fail if you're promoting rooms with kitchenettes.
* The only closet is located in the bathroom. The only drawers are located under the bed (three of which are right against the wall).
* Front desk personnel were not unprofessional or unfriendly, but they seemed unconcerned about addressing our issues. It seemed like they had heard it all before, and there was nothing they could do.

We talked to the front desk about the problems, but they said that all the standard rooms (they call them "Deluxe" - don't be fooled) are designed the same way. To avoid most of the issues listed above, we would've had to upgrade to a suite at $40 extra per night.

Room Tip: Get a suite if you're staying for any length of time. Definitely avoid the "Deluxe Room&qu...

To assist future travelers, I hope to address the size of the accommodations. I believe it is important that potential customers are aware of the actual size and features in the accommodations. Below is the summary of the categories:

HOTEL DELUXE ROOM: At approximately 400 square feet, Deluxe Rooms have sleeping capacity of 4-people (recommended two adults and 1-2 kids MAXIMUM) and offer the following amenities:
• BEDDING: Queen Bed, 300+ thread-count custom linens and plush pillows and duvets.
• LIVING AREA: Gas fireplace, queen sleep sofa with the same luxurious bedding and 32” LG Flat Panel, HDTV televisions on full-motion mounting system.
• BATHROOM: large soaking bath tub/shower, heated tile flooring and single vanity with solid granite countertop. Supple bamboo/cotton blended towels and bathrobes. Premium, spa quality bath amenities. Natural light.
• KITCHENETTE: Equipped with convenience sink, mini-refrigerator, solid granite countertops & Keurig single-cup brew station. No microwave.
• VIEW: Light-well view. Panoramic views of the mountains and surrounding areas, ONLY exist in Suites or Townhomes.
• OTHER: Complimentary internet access, both Wi-Fi and direct connect. Iron & ironing board. Wall safe. Daily housekeeping.

I believe these accommodations are certainly "deluxe" by many standards. There are literally thousands of guests who have found our Deluxe Rooms more than accommodating.

HOTEL SUITES: Suites have two basic floor plans – a private, 1-Bedroom or an openly designed Great Room. All suite provide a spacious layout with many functional considerations. At approximately 800 square feet, there is plenty of room to relax and unwind. (recommended two adults, two adults + 1-2 Kids or 4-Adults MAXIMUM) and offer the following amenities:
• BEDDING: King Bed, 300+ thread-count custom linens, plush pillows and duvets.
• LIVING ROOM: 3-sided gas fireplace, queen sleep sofa with the same luxurious bedding and incredible 32” LG Flat Panel, HDTV televisions on full-motion mounting systems.
• BATHROOM: large soaking bath tub, separate full standing shower, heated tile flooring and dual vanities with solid granite countertop. Supple bamboo/cotton blended towels and bathrobes. Premium, spa quality bath amenities. Natural light.

• VIEW, HOT TUB & DECK: Spacious, private deck offer guests unobstructed views of the 3 ski Areas, Utah Olympic Park and the Swaner Nature Preserve. Hot Tubs are freshly-filled prior to each arrival and allow views of 32” HD TVs.
• OTHER: Complimentary internet access, both Wi-Fi and direct connect. Iron & ironing board. Wall safe. Daily housekeeping.

HOTEL SUITES and DELUXE ROOMS may be combined for a TWO-ROOM HOTEL SUITE

TOWNHOMES:
The Newpark Townhomes offer the most spacious accommodations. Three floor plans average 1,350 square feet. Each Townhome sits on the edge of an ecologically important nature preserve, offering a refreshing glimpse of Park City’s natural beauty. Townhomes have sleeping capacity of 6-8 people and offer the following amenities:
• BEDDING: Not all bedding is the same, typical bedding is: First master bedroom equipped with king bed, second master bedroom equipped with (2) twins beds (some have a queen bed), upstairs den equipped with 1- or 2-twin trundle beds. *Bedding configuration is not guaranteed.
• KITCHEN: Fully-equipped kitchen and accessories, with service for 12-people. stainless refrigerator, freezer, microwave, oven, 4-burner gas range and dishwasher.
• LIVING ROOM: 3-Sided Gas Fireplace. 3/4 bathroom. Queen sleep sofa. Flat panel, televisions on full-motion mounting systems.
• BATHROOM: Three full bathrooms, spacious and equipped with granite countertops and spa quality bath amenities.
• HOT TUB & DECKS: Spacious, private decks offer guests unobstructed views of the 3 ski areas, Utah Olympic Park or the Swaner Nature Preserve. Private hot tubs are freshly-filled prior to each arrival and allow views of flat panel televisions.
• OTHER: Washer/Dryer. Private, attached garage. Iron & ironing board. Wall safe. Mid-stay housekeeping with daily housekeeping available. Natural light throughout. A select number of Townhomes have Internet, Air Conditioning and participate in the Hotel’s Amenities program that grants townhome guests access to the Hotel’s Indoor/Outdoor pool with lap lane, outdoor hot tub, steam room, sauna and fitness center.

It is important that guests understand their accommodations and the property. Guests are encouraged to discuss requests and desires prior to arrival to ensure that expectations can be met as often such requests are subject to availability. If you have ANY questions, please call us.
