“Reasonable Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2009

We just returned from the Miner’s Club. Our unit was spacious and we loved having 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The kitchen was workable and overall it was a nice place. When we arrived, the elevator was not working so we had to carry all of our luggage, ski equipment, groceries, etc. up 4 flights of stairs. It took 5 days for the elevator to be fixed. Each night, after a long day of skiing, we walked up four flights of stairs. Then, down the stairs again to use the hot tub and pool, then back up.
The housekeeping staff came in every day to tidy up. They took our dirty towels, however, never replaced them with new towels. A burnt out light in the bathroom was never replaced. There is no longer a restaurant on the property, the spa is closed, and the gondola still is not operational.
We had two cars and parked outside in a gravel parking area where we were told to park. On our last night we asked if we could use the underground parking. It snowed just about every day while we were there and we felt it would be easier to load our cars in an underground garage vs. the outside gravel parking area. We were told that we should have had a pass for the underground parking the entire time. When we asked how we would have been notified about this, we were told we should have been notified at check-in. As we found out, the parking underground is also heated! It would have been wonderful to have used this amenity the entire week.
We skied in Park City and found the public transportation easy to use. Although we were a little bit removed from Park City, it was easy to get to either by car or by shuttle/bus service. The skiing was wonderful and our accommodations were spacious. The Miner’s Club met our space needs at a reasonable price. A word of caution, however, many of the amenities advertised are no longer available.

We used points from our Lake Tahoe time share to stay at The Miner's Club. We have been doing timeshare swapping for 8 years and never have we had as beautiful a unit as this one. We were upgraded from a 2 bedroom to 3 bedroom unit and these units are huge, well equipped, and clean. The kitchen was complete and everything worked. The gas fireplace was not working but within 6 hours of reporting it, the unit worked. The hot tub was hot and never over crowded. Many people were in the pool and the fitness center was located very near the pool. The front desk staff was professional and respectful. The private gondola was not working and that was a bit annoying but we skiied all over Utah that week so the two days skiing "The Canyons" were not too much of a hassle. "The Canyons" base area is not user friendly but the skiing was better then I was expecting. Alta is still king but "The Canyons" had plenty to offer including not having to go back to the base area until you were done for the day. We found plenty of reasonable priced places to eat around Park City so I get annoyed by people who claim the whole area is expensive because they did not do any homework. Of course there are expensive restaurants in Park City but look around a bit if you want to eat out.

My parents and I stayed at the Miner's Club on an RCI exchange week in November, right before the official opening of ski season. The three of us booked a 4 bedroom, 4 bath unit and, needless to say, space was definitely not a problem. At the time we stayed, there were two restaurants on property and a spa/beauty salon. My father and I reserved two pedicures and the pedicurist asked us if we were kitchen staff. Talk about culturally ignorant and uneducated staff. My response to her question was no, just concentrate on my feet, thank you.

All in all, the Miner's Club was luxurious, spacious, and clean. The pool and hot tub area could be bigger and more expansive. The location seems somewhat cut-off from the rest of the ski resort properties. Park City dining is somewhat pretentious and expensive so the in-condo full kitchen provided many wonderful meals for us. There is a grocery store nearby which sells steaks and fresh seafood very reasonably. The first night we arrived in Park City we ate steaks at the Claim Jumper on Main Street and wound up spending over $200 for three people. So, I highly recommend shopping for grcoeries, wines, etc and preparing meals in the lovely and well-appointed kitchens at the Miner's Club.

If visiting Park City, it behooves you to take a drive to Salt Lake City and visit the Mormon temple and university. Trust me, they do not overtly try to convert folks. It is very culturally enlightening and educational. There is a wonderful PF Chang China Bistro near the university as well.

Miner's Club was pitched to us as ski-in / ski-out. It isn't. Miners is at the lower level of the Canyons area and the advertised ski-in Frostwood Gondola out front isn't close to running as of late February (only two cars are hung and no visible work being done on it during our five days there).

So, we had to take the shuttle. As a result, we'd have been better off in a larger Pines unit for the same money. Rooms are OK. We had a 4BR / 4Bath unit. It showed some wear, but was OK.

No wireless internet in the rooms, just one wired connection.

Staff was minimal and two nights in a row, we had a smoke dectector chirping because of a low battery. Both times we were told, "maintenance is gone for the day, so you can wait until tomorrow or you can change it yourself."

Pluses were - ski lockers in the lower level next to parking lot for shuttle, pool and hot tub are in good shape as is the fitness area. Theatre for the kids is a good evening option.

Net, net, this is an OK place to stay. At the same price-point, there are nicer places at the Canyons and nicer places in Park City.

Excellent vacation spot....clean spotless rooms....we had a 3 bedroom, 4 bath unit on the 4th floor.
Staff was very pleasant and very helpful. Beautiful swimming pool and spa. Only drawback is they do not have a restaurant or bar onsite. But the full kitchen made it great to prepare our own meals at substantial savings compared to eating out in this town......The views were great, the services were wonderful, and we would highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting a nice place to stay in luxury....very spacious too...

We rented a 4 bedroom unit. There was plenty of space, with the main living room downstairs and an upstairs sitting room with sleeper sofa between the two upstairs bedrooms.
With six adults and five children, we surprisingly had plenty of room and did not feel crowded at all.
We had a couple maintenence problems, but the staff was quick to fix them. Being able to take the suttle up to the resort was a plus. In the past, we have stayed further away and drove. The door/bellmen were helpful with our skis and when we returned with groceries from the store. For runs to the store, it is helpful to have a car. There is a shuttle for trips into Park City.
We would definitely stay here again.

I love the Miners Club. Second trip and will be back.

Property is new and beautifull. Attention to detail in every regard. That includes the public amenities such as the Great Room, Theatre and Pool and to the units themselves.

The units are LARGE. The three bedroom we stayed in had vaulted cealings both upstairs and down. Besides the living room area it also has an upstairs seating area with a second sofabed and yet another TV (in addition to those the living room and all bedrooms). Fireplace in both living room and master bedroom. Several balconys. Only thing I will mention is that configuration does seem to vary -- all are very nice but had to switch units to get the twin beds we wanted.

Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Unlike prior reviews I did not have any problem getting the help I need. Did miss the resturant but hopefully another one will open up.

I have travelled both with and without the kids and recommend the Miners Club for both with and without kids. If you do have kids I can highly recommend the ski school at The Canyons.

I travel alot and have stayed at many hotels that I have not been satisfied with. Did not encounter any of those problems at the Miners Club. The Miners Club is top notch.
